Except for one brief week, this is the highest he's been since December 4. :woohoo:

Maybe Dart Guy is in a generous mood today. Maybe he switched throwing hands. Whatever, I'll take it. :teeth:

Jimmy Caan gave Dart Guy an offer he can't refuse? :snicker:

I'm very uncomfortable reporting Alex's score this week. We've talked at length here about how little these numbers really mean, and the fact that they can rise for very distasteful reasons. :sigh: As you might expect, his score did go up quite a bit this week. Of course, this time, it isn't anything to celebrate.

I completely understand, Lilly. We all feel the same. :comfort2: It's kind of haunted, bc a few weeks ago I posted how it seemed that celebs numbers went way up when some sort of tragedy came upon them. Either something like death---Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse as recent examples, or personal troubles that explode in the media---Charilie Sheen. I remember commenting that I'd rather Alex's numbers be lower than have those type of reasons for an upsurge. Unfortunately, as news of this hits more mainstream media and magazines, expect next week to be even higher.

But, none of us have our heads in the sand and we know what's important, so posting this information is the right thing to do. We have our heads on straight about the whole situation. To me, it speaks even more to the courage necessary for Alex and others who struggle with things like this to be able to come out and admit they need help. They know they are going to be the 'big story' for a while and that sucks no matter how you look at it. Unfortunately, by next week there may be another more salacious story that eclipses Alex's. It kind of gives you a new appreciation for what these people have to deal with, doesn't it?

What Fleur said. I think at this point, we just have to hold fast in our belief in Alex's essential strength.

We get it, Sweets. :rose:

I was irked to see he made the front entertainment page at HuffPo, who do NOT routinely follow H50 but do follow both Castle and Smash, and on USAToday, whose Bianco hates him. So yeah, the media suddenly is interested. No mention of his Aussie award in the American press, but all over this like flies on $*!t. :eyeroll:

But we regard his score weekly, so we continue in our practice. And we shall party when he comes back to us. :twothumbs:

Back at you, honey :hearts:

Listen, if nothing else, this has taught me to not be so judgmental when something like this happens to another celeb. Everything is an opportunity for education.

What an excellent point, Fleur. I think Alex (and all celebrities with ardent fans) suffer from an added burden of having to carry the weight of everyone's expectations. It's hard enough living for ourselves and our close friends and family. Imagine the stress of knowing that your every move is going to be PERSONALLY judged by millions of people. For someone as private as Alex, I'm sure it's torture.

However, he did choose this life. And he carries that burden with such grace and good humor, doesn't he? Bless him. So I'm going to join all of you by celebrating when his STARmeter score returns to its normal routine... and I won't worry too much about what it's doing now, as a result of his temporary "infamy"...

Agree with Alle in that Alex did choose this life - there are the benefits of celebrity when you get positive exposure. The downside is we've become so technologically savvy at invading someone's life, that any little deviation from the 'expectation' is broadcast worldwide in a matter of minutes.

I know I'm being naive in wishing we could just celebrate the positive and not revel in the negative, but to quote my other half regarding broadcast news 'If it bleeds, it leads.'

Love to see the numbers improve, and will be thrilled if they improve more when Alex returns to work.

This is rather comforting. His numbers fell 162 points.

2012 Mar 11 -- 414

Back to "normal."
