OK,
pigs have flown and hell has frozen.....
I just checked my e-mail and found a response from CBS about my final comment on Three Rivers, which politely (with a dash of snark) requested that they finish Kuol's story and either air the final episodes and or put all the episodes on DVD. That was a couple of weeks ago, when they pulled the show from the schedule. This is the response I got.
Thank you for writing to CBS regarding THREE RIVERS. While we are pleased that
you have enjoyed this CBS series, the decline in the program's viewership has
resulted in our decision to place it on temporary hiatus. We are completing
production of the remaining contracted episodes and hope to air them at a time
yet to be determined.
Please be assured your comments have been shared with the executives responsible
for this area of our broadcasting.
Cordially,
Ray Faiola
Director,
CBS Audience Services
Sounds like a definite maybe to air the remaining episodes.

Good for you, dsr.
I hope they do air them, but I'm not holding my breath.

Agreed... tho it WOULD be heavenly. Maybe CBS is wanting to make nice with the Alex/Moonlight fans.

I wish that were true but I doubt they give us even a passing thought...

The last part about passing comments on to the 'appropriate execs' is pretty much boiler plate, but perhaps they did actually read it and understand that if we can't have the series, at least give us closure on some of the story lines, especially Kuol's

But what isn't boiler plate is that they acknowledged a reason for the "hiatus" (still pawning that word off on us, even as they haul the furniture off set...

)... so hoping (I know, rose colored glasses) that they actually DO know who we are and are figuring they may as well work WITH us than AGAINST us...

Maybe the one thing they
have learned from the Moonlight debacle is to not leave so many key things open-ended. Closing the door (literally) on Mick and Beth in Sonata left the huge question of what happened afterward. What was the list all about? Was Talbot a good guy or a bad guy? The questions go on....
If they resolve Kuol's story (really important) and the one of the young man who wanted to let his girlfriend get the transplant (maybe less so), give some idea of whether Andy and Rena ever have a chance of getting back together (important) and perhaps resolve the intrigue around Uncle Mike and resolve the conflict between Dr. Jordan and Miranda, it might ease the sting of cancellation.
As for hiatus - I went to see Mr. Webster again (didn't help the last time, though

) and found the following definition for hiatus:
a break in something where there should be continuity
Alas, Mr. Webster, methinks the network folks should read your works more often

I think CBS knows who we are. SOMETHING compelled them to offer Alex a talent contract, give him another series and put him in a film, and I gotta think it's because Moonlight/Alex fans made a lot of noise.
I'd like to think we're going to see those unaired episodes - my bet is this summer.

My bet is you're right....when there's a lot of reruns, a new episode of 3R might draw some additional viewers this summer.
