I haven't been commenting because I'm reading with one eye closed. If this is gonna have a sad ending I'm not reading any more. You already know what I think of your writing, so I'm not going to blather on, but..... please don't let Beth be stooopid about Pete. Sheese, what loneliness will do to a person!

Aw, well I don't know how much assurance I can give. The ending will be sad, I'm afraid. But there will be some happy too so you'll have to decide if it's worth the risk. If you decide not to press on, then just let me thank you for sticking with it thus far..sleo wrote:I haven't been commenting because I'm reading with one eye closed. Oh, Red. I waited to read this chapter till I finished a story, because I knew that when I read it I'd be a basket case. It's 1:30 in the morning and I'm crying as I type this. You tear my heart out and damn you, you make me thank you for it.
I love you so much... how can you write these stories that transport me so effortlessly to such a beautiful place? It's sad and lonely and terribly frightening, but it's so beautiful.
I've told you before that I trust you and your muses to make the journey worth the tears. I'm crying and still feeling the same way. I just ache for these dear people. I fear for them. And I know that you love them as much as I do.
Now I have to go cry myself to sleep...I think I'm gonna have a glass of wine...

I feel guilty now, alle. But happy too, I confess, that you felt what I feel about these two. So sad to be separated but so strong in their love for each other.
I, too, hope that I can make the journey worth the tears.

I'm not a big MickBeth shipper but I have to say:

Chapters 1-8 in one sitting and looking forward to the next installment!!
This story was the inspiration for trying to create my first banner

Oh Trixie, how lovely! And your banner is gorgeous.
This is my first Mick/Beth multi-chapter (my others are Mick/Cora or Josef) so we're on this little voyage of discovery together.

I never trusted that Pete. It's him isn't it?!
The scene with injured Mick was incredibly tense. Really well done Red.

Thank you

Poor Mick - always on the receiving end - but I think physical pain might even be a welcome distraction for him at this point.

I'm just a sobbing broken record red.
All I can say is heart aching, wrenching, awful, glorious, beautiful.

*gl9 sobs even more. * Jeeze this is even more sad that the ending of West Wide Story, where I cry like a baby every time I watch that movie, and neither Beth nor Mick are even dead. *sobs some more*
(it's a good sobbing though...definitely good. This fiction is just incredible.)

Intense and amazing ...
Don't know if I've mentioned before how interesting your secondary characters are ... Pete is so well drawn, and that little glimpse of Cara Flynn made her very real. Loved the way she talked back to Josef while she was working, even though having Josef hovering like that would be more than a bit intimidating! And Josef again is absolutely perfect here.
