I just watched's Alex interview with eonline again and I just love the joy on his face and in his voice when he's talking about Dr. Gonzo Gonzalez-Stawinski. You can just see how much he likes this man - and wants to do his story justice.
Sighing again.

It could be any number of reasons. I did get the feeling (and maybe I'm wrong about this) that it was CBS's decision to let her go (since they're letting go of Joaquin deAlmeida as well and the woman who was the lead in the NCIS: Los Angeles pilot). They may be going for a name more recognizable to TV audiences. Sela Ward, for example, would be perfect in this role. It'll be fun to see who they choose as the new head of the clinic.

Same interview..just hitting Twitter. This is tvsquad's comment:
This E! interview with Alex O'Loughlin was recorded at the recent CBS upfront, so he talks a lot about his new medical drama Three Rivers. But the heck with that; he also talks a lot about Moonlight! He misses the show and is glad that The Sci-Fi Channel (sorry, SyFy) is showing it again.
But seriously, fans, the show is not coming back. Sorry!
We know..we know..do they haveta keep rubbing it in??

so adorable! I love how he says whatever the heck pops into his head and doesn't really restrain himself during interviews. He's not all polished and constantly watching what he says and does, he just makes funny faces and has a friendly conversation with the interviewer. It's so refreshing. Plus he more than made up for the lack of tongue in the Three Rivers video.

Man, he was really working it, like he was trying to cram as much Alex-y goodness into the video as possible.
Who could resist this face?

Thank you for the caps!! They're great!

I am sure that the replacement will be outstanding. Can't wait to see who it is.

I agree
Pinkie, look what happened when they recast Beth and Josef after the ML pilot.
Magic!

It
is obvious just how much respect Alex has for Dr. Gonzo. And ITA with your earlier comment as well...
Alex is back!
How lovely to see that delightful personality shine through!

I think you get extra credit for spelling that name right,
Red...
And I just watched it again too... damn. Just damn. And yes, sigh.

Fleur de Lisa wrote:Don't get scared grace, these things happen frequently when pilots are intially made. Julia is a film actor and may have had some sort of out in her contract (if there really ever was one for her) that if something else came up, she could be free of the obligation to the show. Or, it could have been just a mere fact of replacing her with either someone better, or someone who wouldn't have to be paid as much.
The main thing is Alex. He's there and they are definitely portraying this as his show. Whenever he discusses 3R, it is always about the perspectives of the surgeon, recipient, and donor's family----never about the Chief of Staff!! So, that role replacement doesn't concern me in the least. It sounded incredibly minor, so they probably don't need a big name actor getting big bucks for such a small role. It puts more money back into the budget and that is the important thing in crafting a successful show.
OK... this is true... Still, she was pretty. I liked her. But as long as they don't recast Alex...

I got this in my Google Alerts about several shows recasting original roles. It's from the TVGuide.
This is the part about TR and Alex
Similarly, says the Hollywood Reporter, CBS' Three Rivers is on the hunt for a new head of transplant surgery, now that the decision has been made to replace Julia Ormond. Any ladies out there want to work with Alex O'Loughlin...?

I've just managed to see the eonline interview and that was so very cool.
He sounds amazing, looks amazing. He's excited about TR but reminisces about Moonlight.
Just loved it.

I think it's such a shame that they are re-casting Julia Ormond. She was one of the people I was looking forward to seeing on TR. She's a great actress and I think she would have brought a lot to the show.
