In Germany the critics have been either quiet or negative about this one. I don't expect anything else because they usually hate romcoms just for being romcoms. The critics love to be considered all intellectual and artsy. But that usually doesn't have any kind of impact on the outcome. They panned Lord of the Rings for being boring and having too many fights, and they slandered Pirates of the Caribbean for being cliché and over-the-top. See what they made in terms of money? Usually the movie-goers don't even read the critics.

Shoddy might have been mentioned. And a preponderance of cheese. Mark never wants to sit through a J Lo movie ever again.

BUT they did play a clip of the taxi scene and Alex sounded amazing.

Of COURSE there's a lot of cheese... Stan is a cheese farmer. :giggle:
And yeah, :happysigh: , the taxi scene in the movie is better than it looked to be from the promos... btw, as he leaves the scene, in the rain, he raises his jacket up over his head and the shirt-tails come up with it... cute.

You'll see it TOMORROW, Red! :hyper2:

That's lovely, Grace - and quite serious. I don't know if it was the questioning style, or the fact the Alex isn't on home turf (so to speak) but he hasn't seemed his usual giggly, relaxed self in these interviews. Not a criticism at all - it's nice to see a different side.

 He has seemed a little subdued and even a little on edge in some UK interviews. It IS interesting. He made some sarcastic comment on the pink carpet about "I'm sure all these people are here to see me." So maybe his (he is assuming, anyway) lack of a fan base in the UK makes him nervous?

Which makes it all the more cool that you and your Boy Wonders made a to-do over him at the premiere. :clapping:

Yet, you are right. He is still just lovely and thoughtful and delightful. :cloud9:

He's quite guarded, I agree with you in that. Maybe he's not sure how jokes would be perceived. And he might be just very tired, and tired of being questioned about JLo and the same questions over and over again. But he talked very seriously about some topics that I found interesting, like how he got his body shaped, and how JLo was to work with, and that he liked the kids being around, and how he got approached for the role, and if he would commit to a pregnant woman. That last one makes me think: He already did, with the mom of his son, at least for a while. Maybe that's why he's so guarded, it's a bit close to home. And he fully committed to being a dad, even when he's no longer with his son's mom.

But the question was about committing to being a father to children that weren't biologically his (so, different from his own circumstances)... I loved the response that once you've committed, there's no going back, whatever the biology.

It's funny--that appears to be a giddy little show, and yet Alex treated the interview very seriously. And it was interesting to hear what his workout routine was for achieving that cheese-farmer buffness.

He does look tired, and kinda jet-lagged, but he's so unfailingly polite, and he treats every question seriously--even the ones he's answered a million times before. This may sound odd, but I guess my word for his attitude to the press would be "respectful." He treats their questions with respect for the most part, and I find that very cool.

Thanks, grace. That was a different type of interview - some of the same questions, but some new ones as well. I felt he gave an honest answer about could he personally do what Stan did. It depends.

What also struck me was just how thin his face is....his cheekbones are more pronounced than I've ever seen. Still love the new facial hair...it's a good look on him.

And red, enjoy the movie!!!

I thought he looked jetlagged and kind of pale as well. There were also a few coughs and sniffs; maybe he's coming down with a cold from this incredible schedule he's been keeping.

About the thinness, I don't think he has time to eat properly! And do you think the goatee accentuates that he's thinner.
