So true... he gives honest hugs. I love these pictures. I love his acceptance speech, partly because it shows how good he is at speaking off the cuff, even when he's flustered! Aw heck, I just love Alex. What a nice man he is. :hearts:

Oh goody... Grace is double posting again... and typing about herself in 3rd person... loooong day.

Anyway, here is a link to a photographer's facebook page; she took pics at the DLA party last weekend. Most of the Alex pics are on page 3, but you will not want to miss the one on page 2. Trust me.

And enjoy: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=1 ... 6203362556

I could just drown in his eyes.
Thank you, wpgrace.
I looked at all of her photos and think she has a gift to bring out the classy and the personal chic of that event.

Oh... good LORD. No, you wouldn't want to miss that one. :melts: :melts: Or any of the others!

I agree, francis, she does a great job of capturing the chic. But my favorite picture is still the mega-hug with Sabine. I think a hug like that would be a life-changing event! :happysigh:

Sabine was granted an interview with Alex as well. Tenaya had said she was going to try and make sure Sabine did get to interview Alex, but of course neither of us wanted to count our chickens before they hatched, so to speak. These Hollywood events can get pretty hectic, and there's usually a lot of different people vying for stars attention, so we weren't sure if Alex would have the time, or whether or not we'd be able to squeeze in past all the other press in order to ask him any questions. So it's wonderful that Tenaya did that for us, that she did make sure Sabine got the interview we'd been planning. I'll have to go send Tenaya a note of sincere thanks in a moment.

As for the questions, we had something I wrote up posted on the main blog, plus across most of the ML and Alex Forums, and Myspace etc, that included a special Email address for people to post questions to, and we received hardly any questions. I'm sure Sabine would have asked what ones she did get, but depending on how long she was able to interview Alex for, the rest will be ones we came up with ourselves. We agreed as well that our first priority was to be questions relating to Alex's work with Donate Life.

I haven't heard from Sabine yet. I was going to pass on my phone number to her before she left for the event, but I figured it wasn't fair for her to be calling long distance to Australia. I'm sure she'll have everything up, and posted as soon as she can.

The Alex O'Loughlin Fans for Donate Life also put together a little introductory/information gift folder for Alex. It included pictures of all of us, plus just letters of introduction saying who we were, why/how we got involved with supporting Donate Life, how Alex inspires us, fun bits and pieces about us, etc. I'm sure if Sabine was allowed to interview Alex he would have received the gift from us as well.

I included my story of why I decided to become involved with supporting Donate Life and Organ Donation. I can't post it anywhere in full because I didn't have permission from the families or people involved that I spoke about, so it's only being shared with a very limited number of people. Basically I spoke about a couple of people I had known/knew, one of whom was waiting for a Liver Transplant and was now suffering brain damage from Liver Failure, and another girl who would have eventually faced a Lung/Heart transplant, but who had died before she'd even had a chance for that to be a consideration.

This was the last part of the letter....

These are just two stories. There are others, other people I know facing the reality of eventually becoming an Organ Transplant Recipient. Or those who are on a waiting list, but whose condition has since deteriorated to the point where they will no longer be able to survive surgery. None of these people deserve to be sick, or die. **** doesn’t deserve to be a brain damaged former shell of herself; **** didn’t deserve to die. And neither do the tens, of hundreds, of thousands of other people in the world currently waiting for a life saving, life changing Organ Transplant.

This is why I support the work of Donate Life, and other similar organisations around the world, in their efforts to promote, encourage, educate, and raise awareness of Organ Donation, and to support the Transplant recipient community. And this is why I have devoted myself to working for the Alex O’Loughlin Fans for Donate Life.

I shared this with Tenaya as well. She said she wanted to pass it on to Alex so he could read it as well. I was so very honoured, and humbled that she was going to do that.

I'd love to know what the questions were..... I just couldn't think of anything half intelligent to ask.

Update:

I heard from Sabine earlier today (my time). In the next day or so she's hoping to have some more pictures posted. She wouldn't give me any 'spoilers', but she wants to do a bit of a humorous post with them, so should be fun.

At least some of the rest of the photos of her and Alex's meeting should be up soon as well. They need to be watermarked first though. I believe Sabine has some watermarked already, and I should be getting some of them by the weekend as well to give her a hand with that. Sorry ladies, no 'pre-releases'. :snicker:

Sabine's also planning on writing a couple of shorter articles about her experience soon as well, and then she's hoping by early next week to have a longer, more detailed article written that ties everything together. :eat:

So, stay tuned. :twothumbs:

It's really beautiful that Alex won. You know, in my opinion each of them (except maybe Les Moonves, because frankly, what has he done particularily for this little show or organ donation in general out of the very good of his heart) deserved to be person of the year. But as the little show Alex starred in has been laid to rest, this was his one chance, and I'm glad he got it.

The others will likely work a bit longer with Donate Life, and already have, and that's great in its own right. At least I'm telling myself that they will have other chances to get this honor, because, frankly, they deserve them too.

If Alex had only played a surgeon and nothing more, I wouldn't have wanted him to have it, but he has put so much into being an ambassador and promoting the cause, wearing a pin to other premieres and events, talking about it in TV shows, and learning as much as possible about donation. And he's a great spokesperson and poster child (so to speak) for the cause that wouldn't work a few years from now but works very well while TR is still on air.

Isn't he the nicest guy on earth?
I love how he laughs.
And Sabine is a great person, too, for giving it to him, finding a frame and laughing about herself.
