Re: Moonlight Episode Discussion - Ep 12: The Mortal Cure
Mick heads to the hospital to find out what he can about Coraline. He goes to see the security room and what they have on video. He interrupts the guard who is reading his newspaper.

As Mick previously told the guy on the phone, he once again says that he needs to see the footage pertaining to the disappearance of Morgan Vincent. The guard says that the footage had already been reviewed but there’s no sign of her. Mick passes him a bribe and asks if he’ll humor him.

The guard wants to know what time she disappeared. The last time a nurse checked on her was 10:25. She was gone at 10:47. (I love Mick’s confidence here). Together they scan through the footage. The guard thinks he’s backing up his earlier statement - there’s no sign of Ms. Vincent.

Mick asks him to freeze the footage. And to zoom in. Mick points out a spot to zoom in even further.

Are those FINGERS?! Why, yes they are.

The guard wants to know if she was kidnapped. Maybe she escaped (I love when he says that). Mick then asks if they can change the angle of the video - the guard says yes, so they move it around so that they can see the face of the nurse who was wheeling the cart.

Mick tells him to stop and zoom in.

Mick’s VO tells us that the nurse is not really a nurse. Her name is Cynthia Davis and she was at his and Coraline’s wedding - the closest thing to family Coraline said she had. But Cynthia hates America, particularly despised LA. But she loved Coraline.

We are transported to a basement apartment where a young man is playing Guitar Hero. Well.

There’s a buzzing, he flicks on a security camera and we see Mick, waiting to be buzzed in.

Mick enters and comes down, his VO telling us that the young man is Logan, the vampire version of a slob. Logan is still very much involved in his game. Mick is not and he stands between Logan and the screen to get his attention.

Mick tells him he has a job for Logan and does he want it? Logan turns off the guitar and asks what Mick needs. Mick needs to find a vampire. Her name is Cynthia Xavier Davis and Mick wants to know everything he can about her. Is she in town, if so, when and anything else.

Logan stands there, expectantly. Mick realizes why and says he’s going to pay him. Logan accepts cash or blood. Mick reaches for his wallet. Logan hands over his guitar and tells Mick he can play if he wants. Mick passes, looking a little uncomfortable.

Logan sits down to begin his magic but tells Mick he can’t do it with Mick hovering.

Mick walk away and Logan starts his search.

I love Logan!
He's such a great combination of geeky, overgrown little kid, and hard-nosed businessman. And he puts Mick slightly off his game, which makes me smile a lot. And best of all, he really is as good as he thinks he is. Mick gets his money's worth when he hires Logan.

I agree, Alle. Logan is a great character and I enjoyed the relationship he had with Mick. I don't think Mick knew exactly how to relate to Logan which is, for me, what made it so interesting. And Logan, for all his geekiness, seemed pretty comfortable with himself and how to deal with Mick.allegrita wrote:I love Logan! He's such a great combination of geeky, overgrown little kid, and hard-nosed businessman. Yes, exactly. He was a great foil for Mick, in a different way than Josef was. Logan was also a very comfortable vampire... he seemed to really enjoy being undead. But he was in a completely different part of vamp society. He didn't have unlimited wealth, he had to work for a living. It was a nice view into another aspect of the vamp world. Except, eew, evidently he snacked on cats!!GuardianAngel wrote:I agree, Alle. Logan is a great character and I enjoyed the relationship he had with Mick. Oh, man... that conversation in the hallway just KILLS me.
(Except that they say "okay" THREE times in about 30 seconds.)
