Well, it's a fine, manly beard. That said, I'm glad it's gone.

Not THAT's a lovely picture.
The thing with the beard -- for me -- was that it wasn't shaped. A few more weeks and he would have been ready for a guest appearance on Duck Dynasty.
And the problem with the goatee -- for me -- was that it was shaped
weirdly. I'm quite a fan of goatees but
that one was just
wrong.

I have to admit in the TV Guide Sexy issue, Alex did look great even with the hair on his face. I thought some of those pics were the sexiest ever.
Actually, and I realize this sounds shallow, if when I first turned on Moonlight, Alex looked the way he does with the beard, I wouldn't have given it a second look. Of course, he is entitled to do what he wants in his free time, but I don't understand why he thinks it looks good? It makes him look a lot older and yes, reminds me of some of the Duck Dynasty people, although I have never watched that show.
I do agree that all three of the stars look great in that picture.

You know, maybe be
doesn't think it looks good.

Maybe that's the whole point -- maybe he hoped fewer people would be inclined to bother him (or want a picture with him

) if he looked like that.

Maybe he just wanted a break from shaving or constant grooming or caring at all
how he looks.

Honestly, I don't think Alex has any illusions that his summer beard makes him look better.

He probably doesn't care that much about his looks, bless the guy. It must be so nice for him not to have to shave, though. I bet he has to shave a couple of times a day, to look clean-shaven, his beard is so heavy. My dad used to grow a beard when we'd go camping in the summer, and he said it was a HUGE relief not to shave! I feel sorry for guys who have to shave every day... although I absolutely hate to kiss a stubbly guy, 'cause it hurts!
Lilly, we cross-posted, but I think we kinda agree.

I met a man once, years ago, with a very long, full beard. He said he had to shave all his life, and the day he retired, he threw away his razor. As I recall, he was really rock in' the Santa look....
The point being, shaving every day is a bore, and my guess is, Alex probably just doesn't want to bother with it during his down time. And, hey, maybe Malia is really into the beard. You never know!
