Yay! I love this one. :hearts: :gift: :Mickangel: :rose: Little Beth is a smart (and determined) cookie. :teeth: And she's captured Mick by the heartstrings.

I love that Beth sees the treetop angel as a man. I've never seen a male treetop angel, but I can easily see little Beth simply assuming that the beautiful angel, all in white, is male... because her Angel is. :hearts: Now I've got that wonderful, nostalgic, happy-sad Christmas memories feeling! :wreath:

Thanks, ladies :ghug:

This is a special story for me. When things get bleak, the magic of Christmas through the eyes of an innocent child make things bright again.

It never fails... :hankie: :hearts:  Image :hankie:

I read this story every year (although, apparently, I don't always comment... :blushing: ). This story has truly become a holiday tradition for me. It's something I look forward to and it always has the same effect. Thank you for this beautiful gift, dsr. :flowers:

I'm trying to reread at least one holiday story a day, and this one is a must. It still gives me a lump in my throat. Beth's innocent love and gratitude for Mick--and her faith in his goodness--are so palpable here. And I love so much that she wants to give him a present.

Re-reading. One of Beth's great qualities is her generous heart. The little girl leaving messages in the snow for her guardian angel will grow up to offer her home to a young crime victim, to speak kindly to one who had lost his love, to awaken the heart of a vampire and convince him that love still existed....

Wow, this is just beautiful, Darkstar. The image of the little girl leaving her gift in the snow was quite moving. Was that the image you started with in writing this fic?

Thank you ladies!! :ghug: Glad this little story still shines. And Luxe, since it was snowing heavily at the time I wrote this, it triggered a lot of child hood memories on the rare occasions we did get snow. One of those was making snow angels and I saw it as a means for Beth to make a special present for her own angel.

DSR... just... gobsmacked! :notworthy:

This must be canon, right? I will now see this in every re-watch of their interactions, from the fountain to the closed door. In addition to the sheer genius of the snow angel/guardian angel connection, I loved the little touches you included that perfectly explain "adult Beth." :snicker:

Such as:

Impish Beth...
She remembered giggling every time she made the snow melt.
Reporter Beth...
“But why, mama? Why do they have to be invisible?”
Perfectionist Beth...
Ever so carefully, she lay down in the snow and began to move her arms and her legs. When she was finished, she stood up, carefully stepping away from her work of art.
:happysigh: The-Perfect-Future-Eternal-Partner-for-Mick Beth...
When she didn’t see him, she just said ‘Merry Christmas’ very quietly, then ran back inside.
I can see why this is everyone's favorite, DSR. It's a masterpiece of character and such a sweet story. :notworthy: ... and many, many :happysigh: :happysigh: :happysigh:

Thanks for writing this and sharing it with us! Sorry it took me awhile to get here. :blushing:

Thanks, HM  and wow, I'm so glad you enjoyed this story of the child Beth and how she thanked her guardian angel with one of her own.
