I totally enjoyed the day, following the event moment by moment via twitter, loved the pics, his attitude, the recognition and the award. Absolutely happy for him. But this was not the comment I expected to read in the editorial. Really.
All I can say, maggatha honey, is that you should see some of the stuff these women post IN PUBLIC and then it makes a bit more sense. No, they don't represent you, but they are legion.
And they have no boundaries. I'm afraid everyone subsequently gets tarred with the same brush.
I Know, I get the most awkward (to me) comments on my utube channel, by women who don't even know me -still call me ''honey''- and ok, there are plenty. Plus, I am a housewife too, and I totally adore him, you wanna call it lust, let it be it.. Still, I think...not an editor's comment to honour his guest.

In the terms of magazine writers he probably was writing tongue in cheek...I don't know the writer's style. However, "Lusty" has many illustrative meanings depending on the intention. Obviously, Alex does have a healthy vigor!
lusty
[luhs-tee] Origin
lust·y
[luhs-tee] Show IPA
adjective, lust·i·er, lust·i·est.
1.
full of or characterized by healthy vigor.
2.
hearty, as a meal.
3.
spirited; enthusiastic.
4.
lustful; lecherous.

maggatha, I am right there with ya in being so sick of the media calling fans of male celebs "lusty, frustrated housewives...who don't ever get any." It's fine for men to lust after hot female celebs, but when a woman shows her sensual/sexual nature in a public way via message boards/writing to magazines/etc., we are always laughed at and put down, it seems.

They always seem to say fans are lusty/housewives/cat ladies. WTH? Stupdiness.
Alex appeals to women of all ages, races, backgrounds, etc. and when they get that through their thick skulls, it will be a lovely day.

Don't hold your breath
Honestly? They can call me whatever the fudge they want, as long as his career is going forward and gaining momentum, I'll be lusty, housewife-y, lonely, frustrated, whatever. I have no problem takin' one for the team in that regard. Just keep him gainfully employed in television and movies and give me some pretty pictures every now and again and you can call me Sally for all I care!

I almost agree with you, Christy.
Except this:

In my experience it isn't about women showing their sensual/sexual natures - it is about grossly inappropriate perving in public. I wish it were different, but have you read some of the stuff these women write?! It's beyond any reasonable expression of admiration. It's revolting. And it makes me feel sorry for Alex and all the other celebs (male and female) who have to put up with it.
The objectification of celebrities is not just about an editor's letter - it's about a real and depressing disconnect between real life and fantasy. It's a very short step from these people to those who actually believe they have relationships with their stars of choice, threaten their significant others and post the most hideous trash about anyone who provokes their ire.
I honestly don't think this is an issue where the media can be blamed (apart from the occasional blatant provocation to get traffic) - it's posters and commenters with serious de-individuation issues who actively scare me about their intentions towards celebrities.
And for anyone who doesn't believe crazed fans are dangerous, well, there are more than enough examples of how this ends up. When it moves from admiration to objectification all the wheels come off.

Well, I sincerely believe this has happened a lot with Alex. Some of these stalker fans have turned against him now, cos he's too busy to communicate like he used to... and likely older and wiser than to try it anymore, too. A few of his "fans" were quite gross and behave as if they own him, know him, and have some rights to him, to advise him, to admonish him, and to judge him. Ridic.
They are a minority, but they are sufficiently noticeable to cast suspicion and aspersions upon us all.

A beautiful Hawaiian girl! You go, beautiful Australi- Ameri-nowHawaiian man!

Oh, I'm happy that he's happy!

Although...he's not pulling their legs, is he--what with the character Malia in 5-0?!

Well, I hope not. I hope he's found love and happiness.

I'm so happy for him! He really seemed to light up when talking about her. Although, I gotta admit I was semi-waiting for him to say her name was "Dusty".
