I definitely think Mick looking older was to do with the lighting and the way they dressed him. It had a much darker, cooler feel than the pilot and as Red has already mentioned - Mick is an old soul and that is definitely what we saw in the new version.

redwinter101 wrote:Susan, francis - fascinating thoughts and I think you're both right. I also think it was a symptom of the devotion that everyone involved in Moonlight had that once the show went into production every single detail (set, costume, lighting, photography, etc. etc.) was crafted like a work of art. We were supposed to be able to see Mick as an old soul, as someone who had lived in spite of his apparent age - so that's precisely what we saw.

Plus.... Alex DOES just have one of those faces... It's always beautiful, but hair, scruff, lighting, sideburns... these all make an enormous amount of difference with him and how he looks. His characters, just none of em, look like one another much. (As opposed to say, Tom Hanks, who always looks like himself, in every role, in every interview... )

Our Mick did seem to have tireder eyes... more tired eyes? English 101,huh?... and the sideburns seem to make him look quite different. So it is in part I think really physical... but I think Red's right... in the lighting and camera angles and his acting, they went for "old soul." And they got it.

dc I'm a big fan of the blue shirt from OOTP so :thanks: for that one. He didn't really ever wear that colour again did he? The only other time I saw that shirt was when Coraline wore it. :snicker:

Interesting points on shedding light on the Baby Mick vs. Mick mystery, and I agree! It appears that a more mature, more worldly Mick was by design.
