Jeez, you people with the babies... Mick babies, babies on tv needing to correspond to baby-sizes in real life...
I am clearly an awful mother... I know the chick on the show was sposed to have the baby, but did not care about the delivery, the size of said newborn, or the little scene with the daddy... and the baby rooting for the boob, did not trigger my "awwww" mechanism either... And all I kept thinking was, heart transplant and she only gets two weeks in the hospital... and THEN has to go home with a baby??????? Start faking some other illness now honey, cause if the bad heart didn't kill ya, the newborn will....(OH I AM A BAD MOTHER!)!
I have to say while the baby was unrealistic in size it didn't bother me that much. I was born at 30 weeks and was a little over five pounds so apparently I was going to be a monster baby.
The baby rooting for the boob did not trigger my "awwww" either. I was thinking, get this child a bottle he's hungry dummy.
On a note about not a lot of recovery time. At least with heart disease not transplant. My mother was in congestive heart failure when I was born prematurely. Because we did not have health insurance we were both asked to leave the hospital in three days time even though I was still in an incubtor so two weeks would have looked good to her.
When she had her open heart surgery five months later she spent about three weeks in the hospital and that was 1969 so I guess two weeks sounds about right. I don't really know enough about transplant recovery.

I'm afraid I'm no use on baby sizes either - but I did REALLY like the scene between Andy and the baby-daddy where he had to decide on the VAD or the transplant. I really felt the horrible pressure of having to make such a huge decision on his own ('cos it kinda seemed like mommy usually made the decisions in that household) but I also appreciated the understated anti-melodrama of the delivery (of the lines, not the baby).
Giggles back... and honey I loved every scene Andy was in. I was unsure if I could accept Alex as a doctor... I mean he is an action hero to me, an arts lover and a romantic, a heart-throb, and a highly energetic, perpetually-cool dude. I could NOT imagine him as an intellectual-science guy who speaks in periodic latin phrases and has to be able to keep the damn hands still in order to perform microscopic surgery...
I bought it. Hook, line, and handsome visage...

Grace, that got me
I'm a nitpicker - I can't help it. My niece's boy was in an incubator-thing for 10 days after he was born and he was only three weeks early (and a hefty 8 pounds and change). As for the baby looking to nurse, all I could think was "that guy's going to drop that kid".
*sigh* It's sitting my DVR at home and I'll probably give it another look-see...

HotMicks, have I told you lately that I adore you? That was a wonderful review. TR should freakin' hire you to be its publicity director.

HotMicks' review is the first one up on iTunes! What a great start!

HotMicks, that was an excellent review and VERY well-written.
I watched 33 minutes of it, but had to go do some other important things (Wha? LOL) and came back....the CBS video froze on me. So, I'll try to watch it on iTunes (it kept jerking on me, so I'm not sure what's going on with that) again.
I noticed some things the second time around, like Miranda's coldness to the kid's dad when she first walked into the room. It was subtle, but watch that scene and how she warmly shakes the kid's hand but barely acknowledges his dad. Interesting with her daddy issues and all.
Babies...don't affect me. I'm a cold-hearted snake of a human being. LOL Just not a kids person, I'm afraid. What's wrong with me?
I can't wait to see the season as a whole. We are one episode in, so the ride from here on out should be wild.

Well I just watched it again - and liked it even more. A couple of things that struck me, from the trivial (Pica kid had weird hair) to the more important (the actor who was the husband/father was really good) to my one request - lose the multi-coloured split screen. It's annoying.
I know some of the reviews have been bad (and some unnecessarily brutal - yes, Robert Seidman, I mean you) and the numbers aren't great, but I'm hoping the show finds its feet as the weeks progress - and finds an audience as a result.

Yeah, the hubby/newbie dad was great.
Robert Seidman...from Tv by the Numbers, right? Bleck. I think he hates US and is taking that hate out on Alex, probably. LOL

That's the one.
I really believe that critics have a right to say if they think something is bad. But there's no need to mock. It's not big and it's not clever.

Actually, it was Bill Gorman....I read the review at tv by the numbers before I came here and I had the same feeling that while the numbers weren't impressive, the snarky comments seemed unnecessary and aimed at those who wanted 3R to succeed. (Let the fan lamentations begin!!) How juvenile.
For what it's worth, last week the same reviewers doomed Desperate Housewives based on their season premiere numbers. In this week's review they're admitting they were perhaps a bit premature with that assessment based on an improved performance this week.
Give 3R a little time....it's always rough at the beginning. Let's see how it does next week.

My bad - it was definitely Robert Seidman, but I've obviously got the site wrong (I've blocked it out

).

The bad thing about this is that there are two snarky reviews.......

There is one poster (can you guess which one?) on tvbynumbers who would be well advised to remain silent...She/he is doing absolutely nothing to help the situation. Her/his self-important need to be RIGHT and let everyone know that she/he is sort of an "insider" (haven't we heard that before) is just really turning unfair into ugly. When will these people "get it"? Anything they flame is just grist for the mill. When will they learn? And I will Robert Seidman and his sidekick this: Carol Barbee was at the DGA Donate Life Film Festival in June and had already re-shot the pilot. That means she had more than 4 months to decide what was going to air last night, and spent a lot of time and money trying to come up with a compelling story...only to substitute Episode 2 last night in place of the first episode which was characterized as not as strong. It will air next week

Great.
