I gave up trying to second guess or apply any reason or logic to CBS's decisions last year at about this time. What will be...will be....

All I can do is keep chanting and lighting those candles.

I will try to be rational and analyze the data/info we have so far.

Pros:
Alex is a huge talent and CBS knows it. They kept him under contract for a year and gave him a choice of pilots.
TR is getting very positive buzz.
CBS really wants a medical drama and TR is their production

Cons:
Not enough available spots.
But on the other hand, some of the CBS shows have gotten old and tired.

Conclusion:
TR will be picked up for the fall

Totally have to agree with Susie on this. We can all start lighting candles, chanting, believing in good all karma, thinking what good old Les is thinking, and "my personal favorite" (I am guilty) thinking I could so do Nina's job better. It all comes down to this, how much does CBS want a medical show on their fall schedule? Untill this morning didn't even know that TR was the fourth slot pick, never heard of U.S. Attorney, and I still hate Mondays, and now I hate the month of May.

Either way, I think it would get picked up.

I'm totally dumbfounded that Numb3ers isn't in jeopardy at all in any of the articles... What about Flashpoint? But I guess no one wants the Friday dead slot.

ITA. I also see the networks showing interest in many pilots as their way of leveraging with the veteran shows. They'd be in better bargaining position to force the veteran shows to lower the costs. If threre aren't any shows waiting in the wings, the big wigs in the successful shows like CSI's, NCIS, CM wouldn't have any reason to budge. For instance, the CM producers already cut 5 writers and are now forced to reduce their number of regular cast. Or they could move some of them to recurring status.. CM has no leveraging power even though it's consistently in Top-10.

Amy, I don't think it's that easy for CBS to act randomly to cancel the shows. The actors have certain number of episodes already guaranteed in their contracts.

One thing that's been overlooked in all of this conjecture is that CBS has already agreed to 13 episodes of another Canadian production called "The Bridge". My guess is that this show will be a mid-season replacement, but it has already been picked up by the network. I can see Flashpoint being a mid-season replacement too. The Amazing Race and Survivor are both short run shows, and I think they should share a timeslot for the season, but that's just me. We also have to bear in mind that CBS wants to add about 3 or 4 comedies to their roster. So if they are serious about all of those comedies and 3 or 4 dramas, they're going to have to start programming fresh material on Saturday nights again. Saturdays are even more of a death zone than Fridays.

This is all so awful! Imagine what Alex must be going through!

Yes, Saturdays are death zone's now, but I remember staying home on Saturday nights so I could watch Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. How many years was that on! Friday and Saturday's were big time TV nights years ago. People wanted to see Sully and Dr. Quinn fall in love! SirenSong I agree that Friday and Saturday' nights now is death zone for TV, but, just maybe times are changing. First of all in todays climate, is networks looking past the greed of advertisers wealth, and looking at average viewers. Big high priced shows, are they in or out, can today's advertisers support them, who knows. I do know this, by fall how many cars will Cadillac try to sell during most family viewing time. Not only is CBS tring to make money, but their advertisers need to spend less. I am getting of that, and still think that TR will be on fall schedule if CBS wants a medical drama this fall.

I also read somewhere that CBS wants to bring back comedy and to schedule new programming on Saturday nights (not just repeats) as well. So maybe that's what they are looking at doing. But who the heck knows?
