Just catching up here. The ability of an actor to dissolve so completely into a character that you don't automatically recognize them from one role to the next is a sign of great talent. (IMHO) Maybe we should check out more photos of comparable roles - for scientific purposes, of course.

Wow! I didn't expect the differences to be so pronounced in still shots. Usually it is the variances in body language and speech patterns that they nail that makes it so hard. (again IMHO).

Grace, I know someone who was rather taken with Mick, but didn't recognize Alex himself as being the man who played Mick.

I am really not surprised. He can look so very differently... and while his voice is always his voice, he can dress and move so differently in his various roles... which is cool, but it really does make him a challenge to recognize I would think.
