Mick had taken Beth out to Providence to celebrate their anniversary. He had no idea his cell was ringing off the hook because he had shut it off.
As he was toasting Beth with a 1985 Bordeaux, they were interrupted by Beth’s phone.
Beth blushed. “I’m sorry. I told Ben I was off the clock tonight. If I don’t answer it, he’ll keep calling. She glanced at the unrecognized number and answered “Beth Turner.”
“He’s here. Look we’re celebrating our anniversary tonight is it…. Okay, okay. She handed the phone over. “It’s Logan Griffen.’
Mick took the phone. “Logan, I’m busy tonight. I’ll call you tomorrow.”
“Listen I was accused of murder tonight and it’s all your fault. I need you to pick me up, the tires were stolen off my car.
“Tires?? You actually left the house.
“Yes, Mick. I left the house and it was a disaster. Come pick me up and arrange for my car to be towed.
“Where are you?” Mick asked. He laughed when he heard the address. “Beth, you’re not going to believe this..
Mick parked the car and Beth said. “I don’t believe it.”
“I know, too bad you’re not wearing jeans or we could recreate 2007.
Logan was pacing back and forth in front of the fountain.
“Thank God. How long does it take you to get dressed?”
“We were dressed.
“You said you were celebrating your anniversary and you’re dressed??? I thought the only reason you would turn off your phone was for fu……privacy.
Beth laughed. “Why would I have my phone on if we were…..
“Beth, I know your generation. We’ve made you addicted to being plugged in.
“We as in vampires?”
“No, we as technological geniuses. Logan said. Is the tow truck coming? My car is two blocks from here.
“Back up. You said you were accused of murder. What happened?” Mick asked.
“I took your advice and went to that new freshie place Firebomb.
Mick’s eyes widened “Firebomb, I didn’t tell you to go to Firebomb. I said Fire Blossom.”
“You said Firebomb.” Logan snapped.
Mick shook his head. “Firebomb is a dive, where someone goes to the hospital or morgue almost every week.”
“Imagine my surprise when I walked in and saw what kind of place it was. I was hungry so I ordered an O positive and then twenty minutes later The Cleaners said there was a murder on the sixth floor. Nobody copped to it so we were all interrogated.”
“Interrogated or questioned?” Mick asked.
“Let’s see when a leather bound woman is shoving a flame thrower in your face it I call it an interrogation. They kept everyone there for three hours before they found out who did it and destroyed the evidence. I leave and all the tires have been stolen off my car. I am never leaving the basement again.
Beth patted him on the shoulder. “Oh come on. Fire Blossom is really nice. I’ve been there.”
Logan glared at her. “I still hear a heartbeat. I don’t think you’re drinking blood yet.”
“No, but my friend Plum Blossom owns it. It is clean, gorgeous and safe. It’s a vampire restaurant not a club.
“Tom Rodriguez owns the only vampire restaurant in town.” Logan said.
Beth disagreed. “Plum Blossom owns it.”
Mick sighed. “You’re both wrong. Charles Riley owns it.
Logan blinked. “The jeweler?”
“I didn’t think you knew him.” Mick said.
“He’s Maxine’s boss. She’s a freshie I…use regularly. Why did you tell me to go to club? If you said restaurant I would have known it was Fire Blossom.
Mick shrugged. “Club, restaurant, what’s the difference?
Logan and Beth both gasped. “Huge difference. Beth said. “It’s price-fixed, you can season your food and
Logan finished. “Everybody eats if you have the money. No one can turn you down. A club the humans have control until the deal is set. Beth I’m sorry I messed up your anniversary.
“It’s not your fault. It’s Mick’s.” Beth said firmly. “How could you call it a club? Plum works very hard to keep up it’s reputation.”
Mick groaned. "Obviously I'm not an expert on fine dining."
“That's for sure. Logan sighed. "Listen, I want to make it up to the two of you. “I can get you on the list to the premiere of Catching Fire.”
Beth’s jaw dropped. ‘The premiere, premiere…with J-Law.”
“Sure. I created Lionsgate’s server so…..
Mick looked confused. “Catching Fire? J-Law??
“Have you seen a movie this century? Logan growled.
“She’s an Academy award winning actress. Beth said.
“Whatever makes Beth happy. Logan, let’s get you home.
