Travis (G) - Chall. #159 (Seven lines)

For the heck of it, I wanted to see if I could come up with a 7 sentence, 100 word, between-the-lines drabble (not including the title). :snicker:
I don't own Moonlight, any of its characters or dialogue.

Travis (G)

“No, not a good idea. Animals are naturally afraid of – of vampires.”

My voice trails off because I keep forgetting that I’m not a vampire anymore. All those years I kept wishing to be human again; to experience my humanity again. There were times when I couldn’t sleep and I’d make lists in my head of all the things I would do if I were ever able - somehow – to return to the mortal coil. And I can honestly say that having a purring cat on my lap was never one of them.

It’s wonderful.

“I think he likes you.”

This just makes me smile. :happysigh: Wonderful job, MLC! :petcat:

I think the best part is the unexpected juxtapostion of Mick saying that the attention of a purring cat was not something he'd ever longed for and then in the next sentence, reveling in how wonderful it was. Purrrrr-fect. :notworthy:

Oh sweetie, this gave me a lump in my throat! It's really wonderful. And I think you're awesome for managing to make such a complicated bit of juggling sound so effortless, and so very, very much like Mick. This is awesome.

Your words help me see that scene again. We saw surprise and charmed delight win out over the cautious tension on Alex' face as he rediscovered a simple joy.

Well done!

Thank you!

Thank you everyone! :ghug: I'm glad you liked it!

We are cat-sitting 2 grandcats this week. Explains a lot, doesn't it? :snicker: :mooncat:

:thanks:

Really sweet, MLC, and it provides a wonderful window into Mick's thoughts. Who wouldn't enjoy a purring cat on their lap?

I love that you chose to revisit this scene, I like it so much. Heaven is in the details isn't it? He never even realized he missed it until it happened to him. :mooncat:

Purring cat on my lap would definitely have been part of my list though.

I love how you fit these thoughts of Mick's in between those two lines of dialog. What you've written here fits so perfectly with the expressions on Mick's face during this scene. Just beautiful.... :rose:

Thank you so much for the lovely comments! :ghug: Mick sure did seem to enjoy being able to pet Travis - something he didn't plan on, I'm sure.

Glad you enjoyed this! :thanks:

I've been rewatching ML while I iron. (Yes, I still iron.) Started FTP yesterday and got as far as the scene with Travis. So I thought I'd repost this one-shot. With the cold and the snow here, a purring cat on one's lap sounds warm and cozy. :petcat:

Aww... I really love this. And I agree with my previous comment-- you made all that word and line counting seem absolutely natural. I loved this scene, but it was missing a voiceover. You supplied the perfect one. :hearts: :mooncat:
