I don't own Moonlight, any of its characters or dialogue.
Rated G

For Challenge #174 in honor of Moonlightaholics Eighth Birthday. Eighty-word descriptions of eight Moonlight characters. :snicker:

Eighty Pieces of Eight

Mick –Was turned by Coraline on their wedding night. Believed he killed her when she kidnapped little Beth with plans to turn her so they could be a family. The un-vampire vampire. Always believed he wanted to be a human again until he met Beth. He gave up his temporary humanity in order to save her. Again. Became a private detective so he could use his special abilities for good, helping vampires and humans alike. Perpetually cool. Looks good in Henleys.

Beth – Online reporter for Buzzwire. Her first broadcast unknowingly exposed her to the world of vampires. She was kidnapped by Coraline and saved by Mick when she was four years old. She thought Mick looked familiar when she first saw him, but didn’t know why until much later. Has a penchant for getting into trouble. She also saved Mick on the occasions he got into trouble. Likes spicy Chinese food and picnics on the beach. Hates to stay in the car.

Josef – A rich and savvy vampire businessman. Said that with age comes power. In his case, however, not necessarily with wisdom (ordering in freshies, thus putting Mick in danger and then lying about knowing Mr. Whitley). He is young at heart and throws a good party. Likes to play night golf and hustle young vamps at pool. Always tries to feed fresh and chides Mick for not embracing his vampirism. But he’ll always have Mick’s back when the chips are down.

Coraline – Beautiful and alluring. Set her sights on Mick when his band played at her party. Turned him on their wedding night without revealing she was a vampire, resulting in a tumultuous relationship between them that lasted for decades. Kidnapped Beth as a child hoping to create a family to win Mick back. He rescued Beth and believed he killed Coraline, thus adding to his self-loathing. She reappeared, trying to win Mick back again by offering him a cure for vampirism.

Guillermo – Vampire morgue attendant and supplier of bagged blood, though the Red Cross doesn’t know about that. Mick’s go-to person for medical information, autopsy results, on the sly lab tests and lab results. (Apparently doesn’t care about HIPAA regulations.) Lets Mick know of any bodies arriving at the morgue with evidence of vampire involvement. Plays poker with other vampire morgue attendants. Likes sleeping in air-conditioned movie theaters even if they smell like popcorn because it beats the smell in the morgue.

Logan – Mick’s computer hacker extraordinaire and the vampire version of a slob. Will work for blood or cash and never leaves his basement. Unless it’s for an important mission to save the vampire nation. In which case, he insists on being called by the code name Lando Calrissian. You know, from Star Wars. Quick on his feet (literally) when it comes to needing a Plan B. Plays World of Warcraft and Guitar Hero and hates being interrupted while playing either one.

Josh – Assistant District Attorney and Beth’s boyfriend. Fated to meet when they had a car accident in a parking lot the size of Rhode Island. Although they didn’t live together, they had frequent sleepovers. Josh was a good guy who met an untimely end. He put up with Beth’s late work hours and odd relationship with Mick. Somewhat jealous of Mick, Josh also knew Mick could keep Beth safe when necessary. He enjoyed cooking, but seemed to have trouble with chicken.

Carl – Police lieutenant. Known to give Beth tips sometimes. Other times found her inquisitive questions annoying and wished she had an “off” switch. Didn’t entirely trust Mick St. John and welcomed the chance to run him in on a drug raid at Club Valis. However, he did give Mick a chance to interrogate Bustos in hopes of learning Tajada’s whereabouts. Unfortunately for Carl, Mick lied about the location. Loves Cochinita pibil, especially when it’s on special. Rocks a suit and tie.

What a great idea, MLC! :hearts:

Like MOONLIGHT episodes, these "pieces" are sharp, witty, and peppered with just the right amount of angst. And of course, because if their brevity, we're left wanting more. :happysigh:

Great job! :notworthy:

This would be a great overview for anyone new to the series! And of course, even the (relatively) brief descriptions call up a host of memories for us long-time fans.

Nicely done!

I love these, what a cool idea for the Challenge! Beth would love your concise descriptions. They are packed with information, but they do a great job of capturing the "heart" of each character. And they really do call up memories from the show. :hearts: Great job! :highfive:

These are fantastic descriptions of the main characters. And brought back great memories. Josh putting up with Beth's "odd relationship" with Mick got me thinking. We never really found out what he did think was going on as such - he obviously questioned her about her feelings for him but then seemed happy enough for them to be close in Ep 11.
