CBS orders three drama pilots
All projects are from CBS Paramount Network TV
By Nellie Andreeva
Jan 29, 2009
CBS made its first drama pilot pickups Thursday with orders to three projects, all from CBS Paramount Network TV.
-- The U.S. Attorney project, from "The Unit" co-exec producer Frank Military, is an ensemble legal show about a team of federal prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan.
-- "Back," from writer Dean Widenmann and exec producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, centers on a man who returns home, only to discover he had been reported missing eight years earlier, after Sept. 11. He must learn how to reconnect with his family and a world that moved on without him.
-- "Washington Field," from "Criminal Minds" exec producer/showrunner Ed Bernero, is named after FBI's Washington Field Office that houses the National Capital Response Squad, a unit comprising elite experts in different areas who travel around the world, responding to events that concern the U.S. national interest.
Bernero penned the project with brothers Jim Clemente, an FBI profiler who has written an episode of "Criminal Minds," and his brother Tim Clemente, a former terrorism expert on NCRS. Bernero is exec producing, with the Clementes serving as producers.
The project is done with the cooperation of the FBI.
In addition to the three newly picked up pilots, CBS has previously greenlighted a spin-off of the hit crime procedural "NCIS."

Oh yeah, cause CBS will be so sensitive to OUR feelings!!!
I fear we're gonna have to wait... and I REALLY fear they don't come to a meeting of the minds... and all this year has been one long Waiting for Godot rehearsal...
But I do appreciate the update Mags... thanks sweetie.

I am going to remain positive, and hope that one of these projects involves Alex. When he was readying his pitch to the network, he described a series he was co-developing and out of the 3 above, "Back" sounds closest to his vision. This is just my wistful opinion and nothing more, and there may be even more CBS shows to be presented. I know that Alex said that he would let his fans know when he knew more himself, perhaps he can't say anything until the network makes something official?
They've got to know what a star-in-the-making they have on their hands, and it makes fiscal sense for them to put him in something, instead of him collecting a paycheck from them while being out of work.
Keeping fingers, toes, and any other appendages I can, crossed.

I vote for "Back", which looks like it would have some character study to it, but would be happy to see Alex in the NCIS spin-off in a pinch. This is all a bit agonising.
I'm most agonised about the length of his hair, though.

I can't let go. I want the Mick hair.

ITA...of the three choices, 'Back' is the only one that comes anywhere close to something Alex once talked about in terms of what he'd like to do. As for the NCIS spin off, it kinda precludes the notion of any romance....sigh
In even more agreement about the hair...

At his point I am so ready to hear any news that I will be happy with any of these shows.
I guess my standards are low,LOL! I just want Alex's new show to be the biggest hit next season.
The Mick hair sounds good too. Oh! and he has to get the girl at the end

I guess you can all see how wrapped up in Moonlight I really am. Of course, I meant Alex!!!! No, really!

I don't think any of them sound like Alex's project, but I guess Back could fit. Although, wouldn't the writers be that Simon guy and Alex?
Not feeling good about this...as usual.

I'm hoping it's good news for him too! I hated that tepid 'hopefully' from Nina.
I want him to have a winner, a hit. It probably won't be the kind of show I like best (like Moonlight, say) but I did enjoy him in The Shield and I didn't like that show at all.
As long as we're putting in requests, longer hair - Yes! and sexy clothes - Yes! (as opposed to Jethro Gibbs' kind of baggy, shapeless jackets, etc)
