It's his own fault really. He was the one talking about how teenager boys think about sex so often (wonder how often grown men/vampires think about it)?

Hmmm... I think that stat would be fairly comparable.

But I had a problem with the sex thing and the teen vamp. I know he's physically 16 forever... and aside from the point that many of you have made about the acne (WTF were they thinking doing that to that character?) how is it he can't figure out how to have decent sex in 100 plus years? I get that the vampire thing gives the urges more stridency and potential violence... but they were implying that completion, or premature completion, is a problem. WHY? It's been awhile since I was 16, but I've got a teen daughter and I'm pretty sure that most 16 year old boys can figure what goes where and how, and practice does make perfect...he's had over 100 years! How stupid IS this guy? Hell with the internet one can get a tutorial. And he grew up in a brothel?

So he's never gonna be suave Josef, and so he kills a hooker when he has sex... call the Cleaner and get the next girl lined up... I'm not seeing why this guy makes such a mess out of something plenty of 16 year old humans manage to figure out, sad to say, on a pretty much daily basis.

And he uses a land line to make his dates? So he can be tracked? Seriously, he deserved to die just on lack of IQ points alone.

This episode had a lot of problems. But I was willing to go along with how screwed up he in particular was. If he was raised in a brothel (when he was raised in a brothel) that would have left him with plenty of anti-hooker feelings just because of how men felt when he was human.

Also, some scientists believe the human brain does not reach maturation till some time in the 20's. He would be a victim of Arrested Development in that case. A child's mind will never develop to adult rationalizations which is why when we think of a child vamp we go EWWWWW! With teenagers, some are more mature than others but the hormones being released makes rational thinking difficult. Today when young boys mature very young we forget 100 years ago, a boy's voice might not change until he was 16 or 17 years old. Due to nutrition they did not reach physical maturation. Girls did not mature till 15 or above. My own mother's body did not begin to change until she was 14. I needed a bra at 9.

Talking about it, I think I liked this episode better than I thought.

Nana, the equestrian girl does look a bit like Leni but I don't buy it.

As for the teen vamp, he's forever 16! Can't get rid of the acne (even if he did use ProActive). He wants so much to grow out of the awkward stage, to find love and put behind him the horny unfulfillment. He's frustrated. Been frustrated for almost 200 years. He's stunted. Death must have been a relief.

After the sun sets, the teen vamp climbs back onto the boardwalk.

Image

He walks around a bit. Mick is waiting for him.

Image

Mick begins calling out to the other vamp - telling him it doesn't have to be this way. He starts turning on the lights to the park. (Must be a weeknight and the park is closed.)

Image

Mick continues yelling - saying that he knows what the teen is going through. He also continues to turn on lights. They yell back and forth as Mick hunts and the teen avoids. Mick says he knows what it's like - what the teen is going through. The teen tells him he doesn't. All he's wanted was to grow out of 'this' (assuming he means puberty). But he won't. Mick thinks he's caught him. But.....nothing.

Image

Mick commiserates - saying that someone betrayed the other vamp. Mick jumps up on the roller coaster.

Image

The teen vamp turns the coaster on - setting one of the cars onto the tracks.

Image

He asks Mick if Mick has ever loved someone completely, that she was his whole world. You would do anything she asked. Anything at all. Did he ever love someone that way?

Image

Mick is distracted, he's listening and thinking.

Image

He imagines Coraline.

Image

And answers 'yes' to the teen's questions.

Image

Caught in thought he hasn't heard the other vamp sneak up behind him.

Image

And Mick gets bashed on the head. Fighting ensues.

Image

The fight and Mick chase's the teen on the coaster trying to avoid the moving car and from falling as they go.

Image

Mick is getting his ass kicked.

Image

The coaster car is on it's way. The teen vamp holds Mick down with his foot on Mick's head.

Image

Mick's VO reminds us that it doesn't matter what we want, it's what the universe wants that ultimately matters. The teen vamp makes to move out of the way of the car but slips on grease.

Image

Mick hunkers down and the car passes above him.

Image

Mick's unhurt but the other vamp didn't fare so well. He's beheaded.

Image

Beth sits with Cherish at Buzzwire.

Image

Mick shows up with the girl's parents.

Image

Cherish is reunited with her parent.

Image

Beth keeps an eye on Mick.

Image

Mick is watching. Is it Beth he's looking at or the family?

Image

Beth starts to walk towards Mick but Maureen intercepts her. Mo wants to know why there are no cameras - they're missing the moment. Beth tells her that they don't want it public or on the internet.

Image

Mo asks 'Since when?' A beautiful escort nearly killed and reunited with her family is the juiciest story they've had.

Image

Beth sees Mick leave.

Image

She walks away from Mo and follows him. Mick is getting into his car but drops his keys. He does the charming finger walk under the car to retrieve them.

Image

While he's down there Beth makes it to the roof parking lot. She looks around but doesn't see Mick. She walks towards the car. Mick's VO tells us that what we want doesn't always matter.

Image

As she gets to it, Mick pops up and scares her.

Image

In excuse, Mick jingles his keys at Beth and smiles at her. (He is SO charmingly boyish!)

Image

Image

Beth tells him that he just ran off and didn't say goodbye. Mick starts to say it - gets as far as "good"

Image

Beth kisses him.

Image

Mick looks stunned. And finishes what he was saying - "bye". His VO continues. What we want doesn't always matter. But sometimes it's all that does.

Image

Beth places her hand on his cheek. (She's gonna do it again, she's gonna do it again!)

Image

Fade

And she kisses him again.

Image

Beth is probably overwhelmed by what she did. She runs off.

Image

And Mick smiles a very sweet, happy smile. (I went totally fangirl on this scene and screamed to high heaven!)

Hmmm. What say you? Are they one and the same? I think the coloring is the same but I'm still not convinced. I think the eyes are a different shape, teeth are not the same.

So, in AD, did you have a favorite line? A favorite song? I thought this episode has great picks of both.

*sigh*
To my mind, this double-kiss was the best one of the whole season. The rooftop kiss was too angry and the Sonata kiss was just stiff. This one was sweet and charming and oh, he had such soft lips and such a lovely expression...

It was a beautiful moment - so light and sweet and filled with promise. The rooftop kiss is still my favourite, probably because there was so much more at stake by that stage, but this is truly lovely.

His reaction to the kisses was priceless and worth the price of admission, so to speak. I just wish they hadn't had her run away like some teenage high schooler with a crush. It just accentuated their age differences when they had her do that.

And for some reason, I just loved that little finger walk action under the car as he was trying to fetch his keys. Too cute! And then of course we had cardboard cut-out Mick standing in the Buzzwire office with this strange and perplexing look on his face. Was he breathing? Did he move at all? Was Alex unavailable for filming that day so they blew up a pic of him to fill the scene? Weird.

I love the finger walking thing too. Just adorable. Shows what kind of mood he was in.

I know that shot does look like a Mick Standie but I don't think it is. He does move in other shots during that scene. He walks in, walks out and when they show a close up (head shot) he does move just the slightest bit. Can you tell that I've gone through this scene enough times? LOL

I LOVED the finger crawl... I have a thing for his hands, as do you, SS... tho I'm sure no one has noticed this about us before...

I LOVED the look on his face before during and after the kiss...

And I even LOVED cardboard cut out MICk... if you're gonna look that damn good in a henley you may as well pose, I say. And give everyone time to look. ANd I did... look. Sigh. My favorite henley... have I mentioned that before?

Once or twice, Grace, once or twice. You are admirably consistent...

I am pleased to know that I am not the only one obsessed with 'stand-in" Mick in that scene. There is no quibbling that he looks gorgeous, it just looked like a picture of him, not really him. I know that he moved earlier in that scene, but it looked so strange.

And the kiss was great--especially when he leaned forward while she pulled away after the second one. He wanted more.
I wanted more!

Loved the kiss. It's not my favourite one but I remember being so elated that we got a kiss so early on and the mood was perfect from both of them. His smile at the end was so precious
