Yeah, when she hears that accent, she's a goner! Thanks, Lynn, for the blog info. I hadn't realized that "Garcia" had a blog. I guess its the actress's blog? Garcia is a pretty cool character on the show and I'm glad she's getting to get out more with the team. Usually, she's stuck back at the BAU on the computer!

And I wonder how many episodes does Simon write for Criminal Minds? Could very well be that they are starting to film Alex's April espisode.

Susie: He only filmed one other this season, 4.1 (where the car blows up with the crew possibly inside.. it was the continuation of the cliff hanger from last season.) So I would imagine this is Alex's episode. YAY! Garcia is cool!

About writing for Criminal Minds

Mirren has said that the crew of writers of Criminal Minds are character writers and that there is nothing more interesting for them than writing about characters, as long as it fits within the story. He also stated that he doesn't want the show to get so character-centric that it doesn't feel like Criminal Minds. The characters are necessary, but making them the spotlight of each episode is not the purpose, and it would feel forced if the show delved into their specific stories each week.

Furthermore Simon Mirren explained that almost everything they have written about has happened in some variation and that the things they have tapped into the show are the nice versions of what he has seen in crime scene photos. He himself finds the research for Criminal Minds at times so disturbing that he won't keep it in his house overnight. He leaves it in his car and brings it into the house in the morning.

I can vouch for that, Simon! I once applied for a position at the BAU, though at the time it was known by another name. The interviewing agent passed me a manila envelope. When I opened it up, I saw some of the most horrible pics I have ever seen in my life! I was applying for a position in the Children Exploitation Unit and those pics actually made me sick! The agent asked me would I be able to look at pics like that all day and deal with the cases and maintain my sanity. He was dead serious. I closed the folder, pushed it back across the desk, and shook my head. No way in hell could I deal with that horror day in and day out and stay sane. So I passed on the job. To this day, I consider it to be one of the best decisions I've made, career-wise. It definitely takes a special person to handle these types of investigations. Some people say they find Criminal Minds too gruesome. All I can say is they don't know the half of it!

I get depressed just reading the daily newspaper! I can't imagine the strength of will these folks that deal with the worst of the worse, up close and personal (and even not so upclose and personal) have. God bless 'em.

I am sure the level of gruesome in that job is just as you describe, Susie. In fact, I am one who can't even really watch CM... I've tried and it's just too gory for me. I'm gonna gut it out to watch Alex's ep, but I'm a bit queasy just thinking about it. I have nothing but admiration for those who can actually deal with this stuff in RL... and I would think for an actor, this would be a hard show to be in, as this kind of stuff is not really most actors' fortes........

I have never been interested in watching Criminal Minds, but I am absolutely going to watch the episode with Alex in it!!!! Can't wait for April!!!!!!

Wow, how cool was that? So Simon Mirren is a hottie too, and clearly the British accent is enough to turn her straight! Well, if that's the case her girlfriend may as well start packing her bags now...wait till she gets a lookie at Alex and he gives her a megawatt smile. Gay no more.

She comes across as exactly like the character she plays on "CriMi" (loved how she wrote that! )

Thanks for posting that lynnrxgal. Most interesting. And if Alex's episode IS written by Simon, I wonder if he developed Alex's character with Alex in mind. Cool if so.
