Yet Another TV Guide Alex Mention (5/3)

I'm telling you, are they good to Alex (and us) or what? This one is part of Matt Roush's Daily Review. We need comments, ladies!

CBS’s Next Sure-Fire Star: That would be Alex O’Loughlin, formerly of the network’s prematurely canceled Moonlight, turning up after a long absence as the twitchy and tormented psychopath-of-the-week on an above-par episode of Criminal Minds. Next up for Alex: a lead role on CBS’s medical pilot Three Rivers, which it’s hard to imagine the network would pass on.

Oh I love Matt Roush! I'm so glad he continued the positive trend in Alex comments. Thanks Amy for posting the link. I'll go and leave a comment. Unfortunately the last blog about Alex from TV Guide went wonky and lost a lot of the comments. I hope this one stands up.

ETA: Actually I couldn't find the link that Amy provided. It took me to the magazine though, where I found this from Matt Roush. I don't want to offend CM fans, but I had to have a bit of a giggle when I read his response to the episode. I don't know if this was posted elsewhere on MLA. Apologies if it was.

^ i agree with him about the show, i don't think it's good at all, but the episode Alex did was good because of Alex, the kid and probably a better script than they usualy have.

Oh I love how he loves Alex... but I refuse to let him get my hopes up like he did last year... cause he loved Alex then too... :noway:

BUT still... good press for our guy is always welcome...

Thanks Amy for finding the article and Mandy for the specific link!

Man, he really doesn't like CM, does he?

"Pretentious psycho-babblers"?

But lovely comments about Alex.

Great press for Alex :hearts:
Thanks amy and mm :rose:
He got it right; CBS will be foolish not to pick up TR this year. :cheer:

As for the other review, I had a similar response to the acting of the CM crew. Or maybe because Alex blew everyone off the screen but every rime the camera turned to the BAU team, the acting was so average.

Well... they DID seem to just be reciting lines... and their dialogue, except for the computer chick who I thought was awesome, seemed to be nothing but exposition... and even to moi, a non-cop, often obvious, unnecessary, exposition.

Oh, and I thought Alice did a great job... briefly...

Hi Moonmad:

The link is working now. Don't know what's up with TV Guide with the links disappearing and then coming back. The comment I posted last night disappeared as well so off to post positive things. Gosh, being an Alex fan is a full time job isn't it? So many comments to make! LOL

And thank you for posting the other link. I think that was his way of saying that Alex blew everyone else off the screen. Actually I like Kirsten Vangness the best out of that entire team. I loved her line about not having a "go bag." And Shemar Moore was pretty good at the end as well. Joseph Mantegna is just phoning it in at this point.

Hmmm...could be he finds the CM 'signature' inspirational quoting (twice an ep  ) pretentious as well. :snicker:

As for the acting from the regular cast, obviously some were better than others but it did sometimes sound like reciting of lines, especially when they were all together...it felt unnatural, like they were just lined-up taking turns. And ITA about Mantegna phoning it in. The acting of ALL of the guest stars was above that really, but of course our man was in a class all his own. :cheering:

I know most of us non-CM watchers tuned in just to watch Alex. I think Matt did too! Maybe in his next review of CM Matt will tell us what he really thinks. :gasp: :snicker: I know I've got a dog in this fight but I thought Alex was better than everybody else too! :swords:

Our guy continues to get the TVGuide love!

Have to agree with the assessment he gives CM. Please, CM fans, take no offense, it is only my opinion. I only watched 1 1/2 eps of CM prior to Alex's one, and was so disappointed in the quality of the show. I mentioned before how I thought the dialogue and acting were very wooden. The hubby and I watched the ep with Jackson Rathbone in it--and he was the only watchable thing in that ep--and both thought it was a terrible ep. Mr Fleur liked Alex's ep and when I asked him if he thought it was better than the other one he'd seen, he said "Definitely yes, but that wasn't much of a barometer to begin with"

I will say that the kooky gal with the blonde hair (forgive me for not knowing her name), is the most natural of them all.

I have to add my voice to the chorus, I love all the positive press our man is getting. I'm glad to see at least TV Guide knows talent when they see it...or maybe Matt just knows how dedicated we are and decided it's better to be with us than have a bunch of women ticked at him. :snicker:

I have to agree with his description of CM too. The regular characters were too wooden to hold my attention even for the short spurts they appeared and it seemed a lot of the time that they were talking down to the audience with the way they spoon-fed us everything. Though I'll admit I've been pretty hard to please since Moonlight. With the phenomenal acting and chemistry, engaging characters, and constantly entertaining storylines, ML and the entire cast raised the bar pretty high. Hopefully the cast surrounding Alex in Three RIvers will be better 'cause I think our man has a tendency of putting otherwise decent actors to shame with the way he completely inhabits his role and leaps off the screen.

They are, and I'm grateful, but it's CBS that we need feeling the true love... just saying, and wishing and hoping...
