Daniel Henney lands CBS pilot
May 7th, 2009 // by javabeans
Daniel Henney, coming off his action movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has a new project lined up, and it’s for a U.S. drama pilot. He’s been cast in Three Rivers, a drama in development at CBS.
Three Rivers stars Julia Ormond and takes a look at organ transplants from three perspectives: doctors, donors, recipients. Ormond plays a doctor at Three Rivers Hospital,
while another doctor character will be played by Alex O’Loughlin (remember that awful, awful Angel-wannabe vampire show Moonlight? Yeah, he’s the guy from that. To be fair, the show sucked but he was the only decent thing about it).
The series comes from writer and exec producer Carol Barbee, who ran the CBS dramas Jericho and Judging Amy. Henney accepted the casting offer early last month and headed to the States to shoot the pilot. His character is apparently a kidney/liver/pancreas transplant specialist.
Before you get excited (and it’s a soft CBS non-procedural, so really, there’s no reason to get excited), this is just a pilot. Meaning, it has not yet been picked up for a series order. (CBS’s advertising upfront presentation is on May 20, which is when they’ll unveil their fall lineup.)
I guess he comes after the pilot!
Nasty remark by this blogger!!!!
Notice he puts Julia first with a side mention of Alex, although he said he was "the only decent thing in ML."

Just to point out that this blogger is way behind the times - the casting of Daniel Henney was discussed at length in a previous thread (plus, um, I think we might not place too high a value on his/her views

).

Thanks, Red! Didn't know that! He shows how much of a jerk he is by not even knowing the pilot was already filmed! Hope he crawls back into his hole.

WF, he/she did seem to know it had been filmed, hence the comment that Daniel Henney had flown to the States last month. He/she's just way out of date in terms of posting this as news.
As I say, I really wouldn't waste much energy on this one.

I also got the impression from reading other entries in this blog that the blogger is of Asian-American decent and may not even reside in the U.S. Its definitely a blog for and about Asian-Americans, and most of the blog topics are talking about Asian-American actors, thus the mention of Daniel.

let the nail biting continue...
Earlier this week, NBC did a pre-emptive strike by announcing some of its new shows earlier than expected, including two new medical dramas 'Trauma' and 'Mercy'. Each of these shows is quite a bit different from its medical mainstay 'ER', with 'Trauma' being from the POV of first responder paramedics...'Mercy' is from the POV of a group of nurses at a hospital. Both of these are niche medical dramas.
So, if you're a paranoid viewer like me hoping for a 'Three Rivers' pickup at CBS, you'd ask yourself why NBC pulled this stunt. A couple of possibilities:
They just wanted to roll out their shows away from the ABC and CBS upfronts, hoping beyond hope to get a little attention and that someone will remember they are still on the air
or
Knowing that CBS has two medical dramas being floated - 'TR' and 'Miami Trauma' - for the fall season, they want to mess with the CBS execs' heads a bit. Can the season really support four new medical shows in the fall? Hmmm...Maybe they want CBS to think long and hard about that....maybe CBS will have to make a choice (God forbid).
or
there's nothing sneaky, underhanded or devious about this at all and even if there were, CBS would ignore them anyway (everybody else does).
