Stopped by for a re-read. It's still a great story.

I read this every year, and every year it makes me cry (good tears). I love everything about this story, from Mick's relief at feeling Ray's forgiveness, to his professed love for Beth, to the incredibly moving ceremony by the town. I've always loved the poem "In Flanders Fields" and I think the answering poem is incredibly touching. Thank you, not only for this wonderful story, but for sharing the two poems with us.

It's become a Memorial Day tradition - in my mind, anyway! :snicker: Bumping for 2016. With thanks to all who have served.

Another self-bump. :blushing: But it is Memorial Day once again. Thank you to all who gave their lives so we could live ours.

Gosh, I wrote this 10 years ago!

Remembering those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice. All gave some - Some gave all.

Have a great weekend!

Not our usual Memorial Day, but we need to remember those who served, and gave their all. And thank you to those who serve today.

Oh my goodness, no--it's not a normal Memorial Day, is it?? The New York Times front page with all the names of the COVID dead just about floored me. :Mickangel: But still, it's important to take a moment, even in these crazy times, to think about those who gave their all, and to thank them for their sacrifice. This story is a perfect blend of looking back and looking forward. If only we had vampires to keep those memories alive. I guess we'll just have to keep on reading those history books, huh? :winky:

Thanks for this story. :rose:
