I do not own any recognizable characters no copyright infringement is intended. This is a really depressing story, I'm warning you.

The afterlife.

John Whitley before we review your life do you have any questions?

Yes. Is my daughter with her mother in heaven?

No. Your daughter is still on earth.

Her body’s on earth but her soul must be in heaven.

You daughter left the mortal coil but her soul is still with her.

Vampires don’t have souls.

John Whitley there is much you don’t know about the universe.

She must be damned then for what she does.

Your daughter has committed no crimes against humanity.

She kills humans and drinks their blood.

Your daughter has killed no one. Her nutrition is freely given. Sadly for her she has never awakened to her new life.

Never awakened? What do you mean?

She was never born into her new life. She is still in the womb so to speak.

Can she cross over?

Not unless her body is killed as a vampire.

Can she be awakened?

She could have been.

Why hasn’t he done it?

Do you mean her husband?

I mean that animal Fitzgerald, Kostan whatever he calls himself.

He cannot.

Why not?

At the moment of her death she began her life review. She saw the consequences of her actions, the anger you carried. She chose to delay her happiness until you could forgive her. She did not know your capacity for hatred.

I forgave her when I found out she didn’t abandon us but was murdered.

Forgiveness must be complete. You did not forgive her for loving a vampire.

I didn’t know she was suffering. I forgive her

You had to forgive her in your lifetime John Whitley. It’s too late.

Now let’s begin your life review.

Cassy -

While it is sad & depressing - I find it very interesting that John finally realized what his hatred did to Sarah - and what it will forever do to Sarah...and he can't change it.

VERY well written -

Karen

Great perspective! Poor Whitley, even I feel bad for him now.

...take the lesson...forgive while you can...forgive so you can be free...

Oh my, this is truly good. It must be hell for Whitley to know he caused his daughter's situation, but what a hell he made for her and Josef by not forgiving while it was time. This is almost a too hard punishment, as the lovers are punished too. Very sad, and so true to life. What we do always affects others too.

Aggie - Thank you. Actions have unexpected consequences sometimes and I wanted to show that.

Luxe - Thank you.

OZ - John Whitley is to be pitied here. Despite what he did, he had no idea the extent of the damage he was causing.

wollstonecraft - Thank you.

francis - Thanks. This story is a surprise to me. I was actually thinking of doing something with Sarah's life review, along the lines of since the human does "die" life review is what they would be doing before they woke up as a vampire. I got completely stuck, I had the same idea for why she didn't wake up but couldn't come up with her words. John came very easily to me. I'm actually working on an alternate universe version of this, we'll see if anything comes of it.
