Beth wondered what she was going to get for her birthday tonight. Of course birthdays don’t mean the same thing when you’ve stopped aging.

My twenty-sixth birthday I was with Josh. He had bought me a lovely aquamarine necklace that matched my eyes perfectly.

My twenty-seventh birthday I was with Mick and he bought me the most beautiful sapphire earrings.

My twenty-eighth birthday I was alone. Mick had left for France following a lead on Coraline. I understood in my head why he had to do it but my heart ached.

Today is my official twenty-ninth birthday although I stopped aging six months ago. There were three packages to open.

The first one was a pale blue negligee. Men always gave you what they wanted not what you wanted.

The second box was a ruby bracelet with a note. This trinket pales compared to the blood we’ve shared.

The third box was a first edition of my favorite book Pride and Prejudice. The inscription inside read to My beloved Elizabeth, the strongest person I’ve ever known. With all my love.

Beth sighed contently. She had to decide if she would wear the negligee for Josef tonight or just the bracelet. Either way it would be a night to remember.

I take it Mick didn't come back from Europe? Oh well, his loss. Couldn't expect her to wait around forever. :giggle:

Nicely done.

tucutecats - Thank you. The sparks between Josef and Beth screamed out to me from the show.

eris - Thank you. Yes Mick has not returned whether he is on an extended vacation courtesy of the Duvalls or if he and Coraline are on a second honeymoon no on in LA knows.

Mmmmh, that might happen if Mick doesn't play his cards right. And she seems to be content with it.
Love the thoughts about the neglige. So true.

I could definitely see Josef/Beth under the right circumstances. The negligee is true. :snicker:

well done cassy. Beth sounds so in control here. Mick's departure obviously hurt her, and his non return has forced her into the arms of another man. One would think though, that Josef with all his resources would have been able to find MIck, talk some sense into him, or... perhaps he lacked the motivation to do so....

So..6 months after Mick left her for his Ex, she had Josef Turn her....sounds like she's accepted reality:
1) Mick was never going to Turn her, stop longing for a 'cure', or get over Coraline...
2) Josef was crazy about her since the first time he set eyes on her..and
3) She was born to be a Vamp...

Happy Birthday Beth!

Luxe - Beth is very much in control and you're right Josef lacked the motivation to find Mick. If Mick had come right back things would have been different.

OZ - Beth is the most perfect vamp candidate I've ever seen. She moved on and Josef helped her and helped himself. :snicker:

Forgot to mention I loved Josef's inscription in Beth's book.

A strong man recognizes a strong woman...and appreciates her.

Josef does appreciate strength in a woman. I don't see him with any shrinking violets.
