Following a discussion in another thread, it came to light that we don't have a thread for discussion of Mary Bryant, even though it is a firm favourite for many members.
coco and
darkstarrising are planning to watch today and feel they may need somewhere to come for mutual consolation, hence the starting of this thread!
For those of you who haven't watched, here's the official synopsis:
In the late eighteenth century, thousands of convicts were transported to the British penal colony of Botany Bay in Australia. Only one of them was brave enough ever to spearhead a successful escape. This is her inspiring true story.
Mary Bryant is the authentic, breathtaking and landmark true saga of history's most remarkable and fascinating unsung heroine.
Cast:
Mary Bryant ...................... Romola Garai
Will Bryant ........................ Alex O'Lachlan (this was from 2004)
Lt. Ralph Clarke ................ Jack Davenport
Governor Arthur Phillip ..... Sam Neill
I'll comment later about my own love for this movie. For now, a few caps...
As this is an old project, you can assume that this thread will be packed with spoilers - there's no need to post anything in spoiler tags. So only read on if you want to know what happens...

I own this movie but haven't opened it yet! Sam Neill is in it????? I love him. I won't have time today but we have a 3 day weekend coming up in the U.S. the end of this week. Maybe I'll watch it then.

Watching now ladies. *is excited*
I'm a big Jack Davenport fan so it's great to see him in this movie. I'm not sure I'm going to like him by the end but it's great to see him in this.

WooHoo. Nice timing. Pgal hasn't seen IJMB yet and we've just decided that we'll watch it together at the end of September!
I'm a Sam Neill fan and was so happy to see him in this. I can't wait to watch it again.

To my everlasting shame...this is the only work of Alex's I have not yet purchased or watched - and I even own a copy of Man-Thing.
GA and I are going to watch it when I go out to see her at the end of Sept and I'm excited! I absolutely adore Jack Davenport (we never missed an episode of Coupling here) and Sam Neill is just so wonderful.

Yay! Another Jack Davenport fan.

I never missed an episode of Coupling myself,
PNWgal.

He's been great in everything. Ultraviolet was top class.

I'm good,
Red. I confess.... not a single solitary tear.
I'm a little worried that was not the reaction I was supposed to have.
Loved Alex and Jack so very much though.
