Hey - at least it has longer theme song than ML. Nondescript music, but longer.

Well, the eyelashes & the smile showed up. If the writers can keep up, it could be a winner.

Besides looking at Alex, it was okay. To be fair, a lot of people didn't like the first episode of ML either. It was only after growing to love the characters that we became addicted.

I'll keep watching for now but I'm really hoping for more character development across the entire cast.

I don't like medical shows but it held my interest long enough to try again next week.

spoiler space

I was upset at the scene where the young man who came to pick up the heart started yelling at the daughter of the potential donor.

I get the sense that Ryan's role is going to be the naive guy so everyone gets to say the facts about transplants. I wonder if he can sustain that "Gee Whiz, I didn't know" kind of quality across the whole season.

I loved Alex, but the show was okay. To be fair, though, I am not a fan of this genre. Only watched for Alex. Will I visit next week? Probably not, sad to say.

I wasn't blown away, but I enjoyed it and I'm also hoping for more character development. How they will balance that each week, I don't know, but it seemed so packed full of medical stuff, that worries me a little. I will wait and see what they do before I get irritated about it though.

The zooming in on Alex bugged the crap out of me. Why do that?

Enjoyed Ryan, he was adorable and real in his newbie-ness. I teared up when he talked with Mahmood's daughter before they said goodbye to him.

Enjoyed seeing all the cool gadgets! That place is super high-tech. The production quality was insane.

I wonder how the ratings will be. Frankly, my family was giggling through it and looking at me out of the corner of their eyes to see my reaction. It's going to be a tough sell to get them to sit through it again next week. Bad writing. Bad acting. I'm very disappointed.

I think you were supposed to be upset at that scene, Sweetie... Ryan pulled a bad. We were supposed to be uncomfortable by what he did.

I thought the show was so-so, not awful for a first ep and trying to establish everybody... there were parts of it I actually reallllly liked, mostly with the doctors, all the doctors... other parts, mostly with the guest casting to be honest, that I did NOT care for (tho the little boy was good and so was the construction worker's daughter)... the writing in some of those guest scenes needs to be better too...

But I thought Alex did great. I had wondered if he could play a doctor, but I truly thought he pulled it off. And I liked his character, what little we saw so far; he is definitely a smart @$$. I like that. And I thought Kate did great. I really like her character. Did not get to see much of Daniel, but I liked the little bit of him too. Alfre, we got no real sense of her character yet, but she can hold a scene, for true.

And next week? He's on tv... I'm watching.

I have to admit to having a mixed reaction....I've never been into medical dramas, so maybe I didn't know what to expect. Even though they focused on only three patients (1 donor, 1 recipient, 1 with other issues), there was an awful lot of crammed into 1 hour.

The pace during the first 20 minutes was fairly frantic as people rushed about the hospital...but it slowed down a bit for the rest of the show. The character intros were somewhat artificially woven into the story, breaking the pace of the storytelling.

On the plus side, the character of Andy Yablonsky is a great vehicle for Alex to showcase a broad spectrum of his dramatic talents - there's plenty of opportunity for drama, but there's a bit of humor thrown in as well. What we saw of Andy tonight, though, was somewhat 2 dimensional, no real depth. Perhaps that will come as we are shown more about his character.

I've never seen anything of Katherine Moennig or Daniel Henney before, but their characters came across well. Owisa Odera, who portrayed Kuol Adebe Ketebo did a tremendous job, and all I could think of was Starbuckjunkie's Otieno. If her story is ever brought to life on the screen, he'd be a natural.

Hopefully, this show will get some traction, but I was disappointed.

I was looking for the tomato smiley, and couldn't find it so I'll use this one. :hyper2: just pretend it's me dodging whatever is being thrown at me...

I watched the beginning, and to be honest, it just didn't grab me. After a very few minutes, it was over to Masterpiece Theatre. Maybe I'm used to shows that have a teaser at the beginning, maybe I didn't wait long enough... It's recorded and I will watch the whole episode at the some point. Medical shows are generally not my thing. I didn't become an ER fan until really late in the game, but I did eventually become a fan. I'll be interested in seeing what the ratings/reviews are, but despite my first impression, I hope that it does work out for Alex and the rest of the cast.
