--- Thanksgiving ---
I have more than I ever imagined. We are here, whole, free, together, safe.
Josef calls it holiday amnesia. Maybe he's right. Or maybe it's a moment of grace, a moment to see and touch and believe. I wish he could feel it, just for today.
Lovers, friends, family, lost and saved, the living and the dead, gathered in sense and memory. Each glance, every word, a glimpse of what was and what might have been.
So much lost, mourned, regretted, now forgotten. For today.
I hold you.
I feel you.
The weight of yesterday lifts in your fierce embrace.

Thank you, Redwinter. I love how you give us a whole world of emotion in a few words. Mick is in a good place now, and he's grateful.

alle, I swear, one of these days, I'll learn how to write something funny as I think it might be the only way I can avoid making you cry. There is an alternate version with mopey, gloomy Mick but I like this one
much better.
francis, coco, thank you both.

This version is lovely. Like the holiday itself. Tho poor Mick cannot enjoy the potatoes and greens and stuffing... now I made myself cry...
But LOVE the drabble, dear
Red... and
Alle's review is just perfect!

Grace, having read your recipe for greens (which I am going to try this weekend) I totally understand why Mick might be sad to miss out. But, he gets true love, so... fair exchange? Maybe?

But these were
happy tears, Red!
I'd love to read anything you care to write, but really--I like that you touch my heart. So please don't stop making me cry, 'k?

Welllllll... it IS a close call... but I think he's more than willing to take that deal...
I'd have to give that exchange some pretty serious thought tho... it helps that Mick DOES get to enjoy his wine...

I have more than I ever imagined.
So simple, yet so profound. Mick has seen much in the last 50+ years, but for one day, he can revel in the love he's found - his for Beth, Beth's for him.
Just lovely. Thank you.
