THREE RIVERS

Hey everyone.....

Well, like usual I have been meaning to write you all and, like usual, not getting around to it. Before Thanksgiving..... during

Thanksgiving....after Thanksgiving! But today, I thought I better get to it.....

A lot of you probably already know this, because you guys know what's happening in my life before I do, but today I was informed that Three Rivers would soon draw to an end.

To be honest I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

After Moonlight was canceled I needed to go away and regroup for a while. I was hesitant to engage in another show at all, even when Three Rivers was proposed, but I realized immediately how important this story was and would be. This, the story of so many different people all around the world who's lives have somehow been affected by organ donation and transplant medicine.

I often catch myself saying things like "We're actors! We're not curing cancer or feeding the hungry." (Of course referring to the fact I don't always feel that as an actor my job is that important or relevant.) But I soon realized that Three Rivers would be a source of great comfort to those aforementioned people, providing perhaps for the first time an accurate and cathartic experience directly related to that which they all shared.

Already in this short time I have received so many beautiful letters of support and gratitude from so many of you who have lost loved ones, and also shared the gift of life with others as a result of those tragedies. And this sudden cancellation has rocked me completely.

As most of you know, through Three Rivers I was blessed to have been afforded the chance to work with the organization Donate Life America. This potential opportunity was one of the main reasons I agreed to do the show, and having only recently finished my Ambassador training I had become an official spokesperson. We have done a couple of events and some PSA's and there has been growing excitement about the possibilities of exposure and support we at Three Rivers could provide as the show gained in numbers and strength. Well, though the news of the show is heartbreaking I view it as nothing more than a temporary setback in the work I plan to do with Donate Life America. For me this is just the beginning of what I hope to be a long relationship.

To be honest I don't really know what else to say. I am beginning my process of detachment and will be in touch soon.

All my love,....

....

Alex O'Loughlin x

The man is a class act. But we knew that.

And it's one of the many reasons we love him.

I feel badly for Alex. Can't say I'm surprised though. I don't think there's much else to say.

I'm not surprised either, but I'm sad for Alex. He's such a class act.
Problem is, he's not doing things that please the masses, but things he cares for and believes in. Sadly, there's not much of an overlap of vapid entertainment and having an important message to tell.
Three Rivers is a show that doesn't appeal to the younger audience, and sadly I must say for me it isn't as entertaining as it could be. I blame it mostly on the writing and editing. But I wished Alex would have a great hit show and stay on TV for a long run without all the heartbreak that is involved in leaving a character and a team that you felt comfortable with.
Now there will be a lot of blame laid on CBS again, but they did really all they could do to support the show. I am sure we here are classy enough to refrain from that.

I feel sad after reading his blog. It was as heartfelt and personal as a blog from a successful actor could be to his fans. I know what's hurting him the most is all the good TR could do for donations has been cut short. It's great he wants to continue on with it. I was a little surprised he said the news of the cancellation "rocked me completely." Maybe he was too close to the situation to see the dire circumstances TR was in. But perhaps that's just his way of expressing how he feels. He has such a positive attitude all the time, maybe he didn't want to think that TR could be cancelled. :rose:

OH! :Mickangel:

He's just such a class act. Totally classy. I feel so sad for him and so full of admiration for his attitude, his commitment and his grace in horrible circumstances. Everything that has happened with this show and the way he has approached all of it just makes me so glad and proud to call myself a fan.

Oh Lord... just when you think he's magnificent, he goes on to be even better than that...

He IS classy, and full of grace. And very very sad. And I'm thinking just a tinge angry. And irked. I recognize irked when I read it...

And WHY does a network not give a lead actor SOME notice before they send out press releases? That is pretty much the opposite of classy.

And I miss him already... :hankie:

Agree with all of the above. Sad for Alex, sad for those associated with the show, sad for us.

It seems that the show's fate is now certain. Hiatus means canceled.

And yes, he's a class act. He'll still be an ambassador for Donate for Life, something to be proud of.

I just hope that whatever his next endeavor, he's happy with it.

MAN!!! I just woke up to this new post from Alex and I am so bummed for him! :Mickangel: It just doesn't seem fair for someone with his charisma NOT to get a break!! And he gets involved with causes associated with shows 1000% - that should account for something!! I know that it was a tough sell on the subject matter, but I have been watching every episode - and recording if I was going to be out of town. Will SOMEONE give him a good show with staying power - and do it soon, PLEASE!?!?

With just a dash of cynicism...

He is just really a prince of a guy...and I really hope his fans follow his lead and exhibit some level of restraint and grace. This is, after all, a business and from what I've read here and elsewhere, this news hasn't been totally unexpected, even by his fans. I'm hoping he gets to quickly move on, and that when the next opportunity comes his way, that the third time is a charm.

We live in a world were bad things happen to good people - and good things happen to bad people.

And once again, Alex has shown absolute class and dignity in the face of horribly unfair twists of fate. :bmoon:

*Nods to all of the above* Alex is absolutely and always a total class act... God willing, something else will come up and we'll have him back on our screens VERY soon. I just really hate to see a show that was just beginning to find it's legs cut short... *grrs*

And this man just continues to impress me...

I'm a pretty cynical gal, and the ridiculousness that abounds in Hollywood just reaffirms that cynicism, but Alex truly is a man of style, grace and class. To write a blog to his fans the day after he gets notice of his show being cancelled proves him to be worthy of those fans' love and support and shows he's just as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside.

I'm a true believer in "When God closes a door, He opens a window". There's good things on the horizon for Alex - and I'm 100% with Red. I consider myself proud to be an Alex O'Loughlin fan.
