By the time Mick stumbled down the stairs, Beth had long since woken up. She was sitting at the kitchen aisle, reading a newspaper and drinking a glass of orange juice. Mick walked in, looking sleep-drunk and groggy. He was wearing pyjama bottoms. He absent-mindedly rubbed his chest just below his right collar bone and frowned. He had once taken a bullet there, and it sometimes hurt after waking up. He reached for the hidden panel and opened the blood storage. Beth followed him with her eyes. Mick retrieved a glass bottle of blood, unscrewed the cap, and put it to his mouth. Beth frowned.
"Are you...?" she started, followed by an "Eeewww!"
Mick had screwed the cap back on and replaced the bottle in the storage. He looked at Beth over his shoulder, irritation on his face.
"What?" he asked.
"Don't drink from the bottle and then put it back! That's gross."
Mick gave her a puzzled look. "What do you care? You don't even drink it!"
"But still," argued Beth, "what if you had vampire visitors over? Are you going to offer them that? What if Josef came by?"
Mick sighed and shook his head.
"Look Beth, if there was such a thing as 'vampire cooties', and I had it, don't you think Josef would have it by now? We shared freshies, he drank my blood, okay? Somehow, I really don't think he'd mind if I drank out of the bottle."
"I still think it's gross. So don't do it at my place."
"You don't store blood at your place. I think your juice is safe."
"I'll check the scotch for cooties."
"Fine. Do that," Mick replied curtly. "Now give me the Sports pages."

He sure is grumpy, and such a guy. He doesn't care. And Beth is such a woman here. What does she care about his blood supply? Lovely look into domestic life with a vampire - or rather, with a guy.
