Alex's agent has moved agencies - and Alex has made the move with him. I know nothing about what this means, if anything, but it is noteworthy to me in that I think it's the first Deadline article that mentions Alex without some snarky comment.

I don't know what it means either, red, but while the author didn't make and snide remarks, a couple leaving comments did.
I know, I know
*when will they listen to me and stop reading those inane, hurtful, baseless comments*
Maybe, someday, I'll learn to listen.

As I mentioned elsewhere, this means that Alex has arrived. He got a Deadline Hollywood blurb, and he is getting comments. For better or worse, he has arrived.

I like that,
lafluffy.
Tho to be honest, the one truly negative comment about Alex is clearly written by someone who's never seen him. She misspelled his name and is under the misimpression that he's been in 3 cancelled shows on CBS... she's just repeating, erroneously, something she remembered from reading a blog somewhere.

Interesting... Chris Heart, who is Alex's agent, is the one most of the commenter-peeps are talking about regarding this apparently momentous moment in Hollywood. Split decision among the comments-- some pros, some cons-- regarding whether he's really any good or not. Clearly most of the recent defectors to UTA seem to be Heart's clients.
And yes, I know his name is really spelled without the "e"... so as soon as he agent's-up and makes sure journalists stop saying "O'Lofflin" and spelling "O'Laughlin" and "McLaughlin", I shall drop the "e."

Right on, sister! Speak truth to power!
(Although that
really is a publicist's job... the agent's job is just to get you work...but he should still be working on that important issue, darnit!)

It's a strange choice unless the people involved have an enormous amount of faith in their agent. ICM is one of the top agencies in the world. UTA's usually considered 2nd tier - HOWEVER - if they get more personal attention from the folks at UTA, it makes sense. The biggest agencies have to focus on their biggest names first, so the mid-list/up&coming guys and gals can overlooked pretty easy.
One thing I'll say for sure is the fact that so many jumped ship at once speaks more than any news release. Since William Morris and Endeavor merged, there's really no way to compete against them on an even field. (The big 4 used to be WM, End. ICM and CAA) If ICM buckles, then the only other "big" agency will be CAA and they're completely insular. They don't do anything but by referral, which means someone has to be invited to join that company and puts them at a disadvantage when it comes to numbers.
