It already existed, but is now supposedly "official".
I feel a bit sorry for the person who set up the original fanpage because all of that content is gone now, but those are the facebook rules...you can sign up as 'Alex O'Loughlin' but as soon as the real Alex shows up, your page is annexed...
edit by Tam: The page is a fake - thanks for clearing this up everyone :)

Hmm, seems that the new publicist is working on his profile.

I hope it doesn't get too many annoying "fans" posting nonsense like netspeak or marriage proposals

OR hoping they'll be proactive like DDK was lrecently - warned people about posting certain things. Said he'd boot them if they didn't quit.

I hope it really is "official" - and hopefully we'll get some regular updates. Daniel's page is such fun and it would be great to see something similar from Alex.

I'm going to wait for independent corroboration like a blog on his myspace page noting the change or some quote. Anybody can say "official"

They couldn't come in an annex a page for someone else to use just because it had the same name on it, it wouldn't work. Any page that is created is linked to the person who created it's FB account. Alex, for example, would then not only be annexing that persons page, but also all of their login information as well. I really doubt he's gonna do something like that, or that Facebook would allow it for data privacy reasons alone.
Actually, they can- and they have. (
Here's only one of many stories about this and
here's another one along the same lines). I've heard so many stories like this in my line of work (I'm surprised I didn't find more of them online) that I automatically assumed this was another case. Sorry I jumped to conclusions!
I'm glad you managed to get behind all this and set the record straight!!

Oh wow, really? I'm surprised - I didn't think they could do that.
And no worries, I hate seeing Fans get taken for a ride.

Thanks Red
I'm still so bloody peeved at the Director of CBS Publicity for telling us Alex didn't have a Facebook page when some of the AOL Fans for Donate Life contacted them to ask for confirmation as to whether the page was legit or not, when the page in question WAS Alex's, or at least a page set up by his publicist. Of course we all assumed that we could trust the Director of CBS Publicity to know what they were talking about when it came to one of their biggest rising stars. Sabine and I have been flat out the last couple of days, trying to correct this person's mistake, which we had originally passed on to everyone in good faith.
