Shannyn's newest film, Road to Nowhere, had its premiere on September 10 at the Venice Film Festival in Venice, Italy.

The Hollywood Reporter has a review of the movie here: Road to Nowhere -- Film Review

The synopsis of the story is a bit hard to follow, but the story is apparently about a filmmaker who is making a movie about a "real-life" couple who have apparently commited fraud and then faked their own deaths. He hires unknown actors to portray them in his film and Shannyn plays the actress playing the wife. The film is billed as a romance/thriller and has not been rated. No further release information is available.

The reviewer did have a positive comment about Shannyn:

Runyan is a little stiff but shows he can play both earnestly affected and ironic with a straight face, and Sossamon has great presence, much more so as Laurel being her ambiguous self than as Laurel acting.

Apparently the movie is starting to open in other cities. See the web site for locations.

Thanks, Rhonda! I'm hoping the film will be well enough received that it'll come to a few more cities. I'd like to see this, but not quite enough to drive 3 hours. :eyeroll:

I noticed that too. It definitely seems to be an offbeat movie.

I am so mad at myself. I missed a special screening last night up by Lincoln Center. The only theater it is playing in NYC is very inconvenient for me. I'll try to get to see it but.....

 It looks like Road to Nowhere won't be in the NY theater after today. It only made a week and I missed it.

Well Cassy,
I'm going to learn from you and go the opening night. Here in Minneapolis that's July 1st. Dates for other places are listed on the movie's web site (listed earlier in this thread.)

Gosh, Cliff DeYoung is looking not so de-Young.......
What happens when the actors that are our age start looking "older"?
You follow younger Actors...... :snicker:

I went to see this movie this afternoon.

I'm not sure what to say. It's a very confusing movie with a complex plot. Although it was great to see Shannyn in something, I don't think I'd recommend it.

By the way, there were no more motorboat sounds beyond the clip that was posted earlier. And Shannyn's tattoo (dollar sign on the right shoulder about where the fleur de lis was) was visible.

I just noticed on my cable website that this is available on Demand between now and September 30th. I'll have to see about ordering it.
