Lucky, I too was struck by the symmetry of the first and last line. Everything in that scene did seem to be happening so quickly, but the decision was still a hard one for Mick to make -- that he would have to kill one to save the other. And very interesting bit you threw in there about Beth being too tempting and smelling like Coraline. Was it the blood scent? Could have been.

Nice -- I like this!

Love this!

A large part of our lives is determined by decisions made in the heat of the moment that play out and make us the people that we are.

Here, Mick made decisions that would shape his future and destiny.

Thank you!

Thanks for commenting, Jenna! Yes, Mick had to make a quick decision there, and like a good noir character, he made one that would resonate through years to come. I'm guessing it was one he thought about a lot.

Amazing how you show the things that got through Mick's mind at that very moment where all happened so fast!! His astonishment to see Cora at the window, his will to protect little Beth from more pain...and info(?). And oh my, I had never thought he would be a danger for Beth himself, smelling her rare bloodtype like that..It actually made me shiver to even think about that..I keep forgetting he is a vampire when he gets into his Guardian Angel suit,it seems......

And, by all means..Things do happen fast!!

Ah, thanks, maggatha! It's always good to see one of my pieces pop up in the actives list!

We never knew exactly why Coraline chose Beth, but I think we all agree that her blood type had something to do with it....

I love revisiting challenges. Mick fell for her fast and his decision to really end it was just as fast.
