1958 The Third Anniversary PG-13

A little longer then a vignette but here's my story for the third anniversary for a challenge on ML4E

1958
Sarah Whitley had remained unchanged for the last three years.
A very handsome young vampire sat by her bedside. “Sarah it’s Charles. I’m going to leave New York. I know I said I’d never leave you but yesterday I saw your father at Penn Station. He screamed my name but I got lost in the rush hour traffic.
“I don’t want to keep moving you around. I have your nursing staff and everything you need right here, in case you……wake up.”
“I’m leaving the country for now, I don’t want your father finding me but I’m not leaving you alone. The nurses will take care of you and my friend Mr. Riley will come and check on you weekly. You remember him, the jeweler who made your engagement ring. He’s been a vampire for over sixty years and he’ll protect you until I come back. He always liked you Sarah and he supports me waiting for you to wake up.
He choked back his tears. “I love you Sarah and if you wake up I’ll be back as fast as a plane can take me. I’m going to London for now and when I return to the states I’ll probably go Chicago. I want to put some distance between me and your father.
“I’ll always come home for your birthday and your……….turning day.”
He kissed her lips like Sleeping Beauty. “Goodbye for now my princess. I’ll always be waiting for you.
