The first time I saw her, flustered and irritated over the fender bender but even then incredibly lovely, I knew this was someone I had to get to know.

I fell hard. Attraction became enchantment, then love, and I never stopped being surprised that she felt the same. Her dedication to ferreting out the truth, and tendency to slight obsession about her work (did I say ‘slight’?) was similar to the way I feel and she came to recognize our similarities, too.

It seemed we were made for each other, then…I don’t know. Something happened.

For a long time, I thought it was that private investigator friend of hers--the one who saved her from being the next victim of a serial killer on one of her stories, but the truth is maybe it had more to do with us. If we had been as solid as I thought we were, Mick St. John should have passed us by unnoticed.

When I told her about the call from Victorville PD--about the fresh accident scene and that I thought Leni and Mick were dead, I will never forget the look in her eyes. I wondered if she would have had that look in her eyes for me and doubted it.

It’s funny. When I was shot, Mick tried to save me and through all the pain, I recognized that he was sincere. Something about getting that close to death, you see into another person’s heart. He worked really hard to keep me alive, even knowing that if I lived I would continue to come between him and Beth.

We think we make choices in life that lead to our destiny, but in the final analysis, I think we are just in the right place at the right time.

Or we aren’t.

you're quite a philosopher, you know that?

I really like the compassionate viewpoint you have of Josh. I was never a Josh-hater - I thought he was a great catch, and that killing him off was too easy a way out for Beth and the writers. You show him to be the man that was deserving of Beth's love, that even in the face of death, he could see the good in his rival. Nice one.

This just nails Josh as I see his character. He was fair and he didn't shrink from the truth, even a very hard truth. This is a heartbreaking and yet heartwarming piece.

I really liked Josh. He seemed a genuinely nice guy and dserved much better than he ultimately got. Once Mick showed up, he never stood a chance with Beth.

Even though Josh and Beth seemed like a happy couple, I maintain that there were unseen cracks in the foundation of their relationship.

Another thing, we saw Mick and Beth argue just a little in Sonata, but how do you argue with somebody like Josh?

I've become a lot more understanding and sympathetic about Josh over time as well. Would have liked to see them find a way to let him back off without having to die!

Love this view of Josh, Jenna, but two passages stand out.

Something about getting that close to death, you see into another person’s heart.

A dying Josh finally recognizing Mick as more than just competition for Beth's affections. The ending, though, sums up Josh's lot in life perfectly.

Poor Josh. I think he understood much better than Beth that their relationship was disintegrating.

I do like his moment of complete clarity as he was dying. I often felt that Josh didn't have as strong a will to live because he knew he was losing Beth. He didn't even have the need to protect Beth to inspire him because he knew Mick would take care of that.

Wonderful insight into Josh. I especially liked this part:

It's comforting in a way to know that Josh recognized Mick as an honorable guy.
