Author's Note: This is the scene in episode thirteen where Mick's talking to Josef, trying to convince him to turn him again. (or, re-turn) It's all about the line where he says that the plastic surgeon dude's got 'his Beth'. It's all focused around that line, so that's why it's so short...



The moment Mick said those four words; it was obvious how much he cared for Beth. Mick’s heart was shattering at the possibility that he wouldn’t be able to save Beth. Mick couldn’t even think the result, it was too painful. The tears in his eyes were proof enough-but the fact that Mick was giving up mortality to save her, meant that he was literally giving up his life, because he cared so much for her. Mick didn’t care. He knew that if he didn’t become immortal again, Beth would… It was an impossibility. Mick couldn’t imagine a world without Beth, he couldn’t tolerate one. Mick’s world had started to seem all about Beth. He couldn’t lose her now. He loves her.

One of the (millions of) things I loved about Moonlight was how Mick could say so much with just his facial expressions. You can see these thoughts moving across his face in that scene. You know his sacrifice is worth it to him, even though it's a horrible choice. For his Beth, he'll do anything.

I totally love that scene. Thank you for spelling it out for us.

OH, MickBethKiss dear, you came with presents for all of us! This scene was one of my most beloved in the whole story and you have put Mick's eyes and face expression so well in your words... I guess even his body was terribly tensed, the way his hands grabbed Josef to make him focus...I have always thought he really could have gone there saving her as a human, with Josef and some others, but then they would have really saved her, not him, and in her heart he always wants to be her guardian angel ...nobody else...

Congratulations on your new office. Nice to have a new author on board. Thanks for covering one of my favorite scenes. Those four words are just so powerful and you've described the scene well.

Very nice MBK! If Mick was a little tentative earlier in that episode when he told Josef, "I love her", this scene left no room for doubt. And as you described so well, he knew he would sacrifice anything for her.

Alex made it very easy on the writers. He could convey so much with a flicker of expression that they didn't need to write as much dialogue.

Maybe the writers wanted Moonlight cancelled. Bad writers!
