I started compiling some statistics from the Who Said It game one day, with the grand plan to go through all the archived threads. The very first one took much longer than I thought, and since we are now on Thread #6, I don't know if there will be any more.

Anyway, I entered the phrase, who said it, to whom and in what episode. If they were a very minor character, I simply used "Other" for their name.


The first Who Said It thread is 25 pages long.

There were 165 phrases posted.

There were 5 sets of duplicates:
"File a complaint" Ray to Mick in WLB
"I never forget a face" Morgan to Mick in The Ringer
"I never told anybody that" Mick to Josef in The Ringer
"We shall never speak of this again" Logan to Mick in FTP
"You're not worried about the cops, right?" Other to Lola in BC
There was also "Who's da man" and "Who's the man", both said by Logan to Mick, with "da man" from Sonata and "the man" from TMC.

There were 19 phrases that did not include any of the above characters in either the "said" or "to whom" columns.

What an incredibly cool idea, MLC - and how wonderful of you to go to all that trouble! It's fascinating to see the patterns. I love stuff like this. I can see how time-consuming it would be to do all the sorting and counting... wow. That was a lot of work! Thank you so much!

I'm not surprised that Mick was quoted the most but I am surprised we duplicated quotes especially when we're trying to stump each other...but only 6 out of 165 phrases isn't bad.

Apparently, I have no life.

I entered them into a spreadsheet. So the sorting and counting are done by the computer - I just tell it how. It was the entering that took so long. I may do more, who knows. It really would be interesting to compile all 6 threads! By now we must have a lot more duplicates!

Very cool, MLC! I love looking at stats. It's very interesting that FtP has so many more quotes than the other episodes, and that Mick is both quoted more and spoken to more than the other characters.

If you still want to go ahead with your "grand plan," I would be happy to help. It wouldn't be quite as big of a job if a few people pitched in.

Thank you for the offers of help! But it's still probably easier if I just hang in there and do it. I'm guessing that the other threads will have less than 165 quotes, because now we wait for a confirmation before posting a new one. In the beginning we just assumed an answer was correct and went right to the next one. Plus now that it's turning colder, I'll probably have more time to do indoor stuff.

Thread #2 had just over 25 pages.

There were 90 phrases quoted. (I knew it would be a lot less!)

No duplicates! We had "I should go now" and "I should go" but different people from different episodes.

Whew! I may have to go back and reconfigure the "Other to Other" because I think I've missed some in the way I entered names. But that will have to wait for another day!
