Living - PG (Champagne Challenge #134)

Exactly 100 words is tough!
This one's set right after The Mortal Cure.
Usual disclaimers apply.
LIVING
Doesn’t matter if January first is a memory.
It’s New Year’s Day for me, thanks to Coraline.
It’s temporary, but I have my life back. And I’m gonna live it, for however long I’ve got.
So much to do.
I’m gonna drive in the sun with the top down.
Eat ice cream.
Sit in a bar. Drink scotch.
Go to the Santa Monica pier and not be tempted by a thousand heartbeats.
Go for a walk on the beach. Feel the sting of salt water on my bare feet.
Spend every human moment showing Beth how much I love her.

P'Gal - This is a picture of Mick in not just in the sunlight, but in the light of life and love as well.

This is great!
Poor Mick. If ever there was a poster child for 'the grass is always greener...' it is him. Whatever life (or in this case, unlife) gives him, he always longs for what he doesn't have at hand.
Fabulous job!
Thank you!
Jenna

What a great response to the challenge, PNWgal!
This drabble really reminds me of how we should make an effort to enjoy life's simple pleasures. We are so often caught up in our busy lives, and do not make time to "slow down and smell the roses." Perhaps this is because most of us do not think of our humanity as being "temporary." Mick knows that he has limited time to enjoy certain things, and so he tries to make the most of it. What a fantastic mentality!
Thank you!

Brilliant! If this isn't the perfect moment for a resolution, I don't know what is.

And you laid it out just beautifully.

There is so much determination, and even a bit boyish enthusiasm, in these hundred words. Mick's not deluding himself, but he's not going to waste a moment dwelling on the inevitable.
I love this.

Oh, honey--what a wonderful answer to the challenge. Because if there's a new year, or a new day dawning for Mick, this is it. And he has SO much living to do. I love the way you set it out--Mick is making plans, and they're not small plans. He knows what he wants and he's
going for it. And best of all, he is going to relish every moment in the sun that he's got.
Thank you for this little peek into Mick's soul at a very important time. It is special.

Mick take your trip down human lane and love every minute of it because like human life it is fleeting. Wonderful answer to the challenge

You guys are just so wonderful.

Thanks, ALL of you!
If I've learned anything lately, it's that life is short and fleeting...and that you have to live it. Mick got a second chance to live his life, even if it was temporary...and he was going to get out there and live it. And I'm pretty sure Beth was a huge part of that.

This one made me sad and happy at the same
Time. His joy is infectious, but we know his time is so limited.

Luxe...

That's exactly it.
Mick gets his wish, but he doesn't get to keep it. Happy and sad at the same time.
