Almost
“The beach is beautiful tonight.”
“It is. But, you know, we have to come here during the day sometime. There’s this great little cove just over that hill. My parents used to take me there a lot. It’s a perfect spot for a picnic. Great sun, beautiful waves. You’ll love it.”
“Hm.”
“It’ll be warmer then, too. Here, Coraline, take my jacket. You seem cold.”
“Thank you. Mick?”
“Yeah?”
“If…if I were to tell you something shocking about who I am, how would you react?”
“It would depend on what it was, I guess. But, with you, I’m starting to expect the unexpected. You keep me on my toes.”
“Are you complaining?”
“No! It’s one of the things I love about you.”
“Good. I’ll keep that mind.”
“So, what brought this up? Is there really something you want to tell me?”
“Maybe. I just need you to promise me something first.”
“Of course.”
“Promise me that no matter how crazy it sounds, you’ll trust me, and let me finish explaining before you start asking questions.”
“I promise. You can tell me anything, Coraline. I love you. Nothing will ever change that. I can’t wait to grow old with you, and… Coraline, what is it? What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. It’s nothing. Never mind. Just…take me home, please.”
“Are you sure? If you still wanna talk-”
“No, no. It’s okay. It can wait.”
“Alright. If you’re sure.”
“I am. Besides, it’s getting late, and there’s still a lot to do before the wedding.”
