Another brief conversation for our 250 word challenge. It occurs to me that this conversation, or one very like it, almost had to have occurred during "The Mortal Cure."

Heads Up

“What is it, Cynthia? I’m busy.”

“You’ve got a problem.”

“Oh?”

“That cochon of a husband of yours is poking around.”

“He’s not a problem.”

“He’s always a problem.”

“Whatever he’s doing, I can handle him.”

“He showed up at my hotel room, just now. Asking a lot of nosy questions. My hotel room. He shouldn’t even know I’m in town.”

“You didn’t tell him anything, did you?”

“Oh, we sat down and had a long chat about old times. Over drinks and dinner. Of course I didn’t tell him anything. I’m not stupid.”

“He’s not such a bad guy, you know.”

“I’ve never trusted him. Never.”

“We’ve been over this.”

“Well…”

“What did he want to know?”

“He was looking for you. And he suspects… something.”

“But he doesn’t know anything.”

“He knew I helped you get out of that hospital, Coraline. How could he know that? We were so careful.”

“You know how it is, these days. Security cameras everywhere. It’s not important. Look, we’re on the verge of a breakthrough, here.”

“If he found me, he can find you. And your lab.”

“What else did he say?”

“He asked about the plants. I told him, they were herbs, you know, for restaurants. But he certainly didn’t believe me.”

“We can’t move the operation right now. We’re so close.”

“Fine. Whatever. But if he finds you, all our plans will be down the drain. You know that, don’t you?”

“Don’t worry, ma cher. I’ve got it under control.”

Oh, this is awesome. Of course they had this conversation... Coraline breezing over the possible bumps in the road, and Cynthia grumpily anticipating every one. I like the way Cynthia has a definite mind of her own here... but she still does everything she's told, because that's her place.

Great job, Lucky! :rose:

Somehow this ended up on the cutting room floor. Thanks for bringing it back!

Another lovely drabble about Cynthia and Coraline.

Cunthia clearly has a mind of her own, but she always obeys. As though in her mind, she is forever relegated to the role as servant to royalty. She now has a doctorate in biochemistry, no doubt at Coraline's behest--and a level of expertise that exceeds Coraline's, but Coraline still calls the shots.

Certainly this conversation took place.

Wonderful, wonderful job!

Thank you!

Jenna

Yeah, Cora has it all under control...but she never had Mick under control, never!! :winky:

And who the heck does Cynthia thinks she is , calling our vampire ''cochon''? Don't make me dig up my French!! :giggle:

Well, you know Cynthia never cared much for Mick...I just sort of saw her indulging in a little name calling. After all, he did wake her up for a nap, and we're all grumpy under those circumstances!

I just felt that, given Cynthia's great attachment to Coraline, she'd be on the phone as soon as that hotel door swung closed behind Mick.

It was a bit of a disappointment to find that "scientist vamp who's about to get beheaded by Lance" did not have a name. That would have made writing this a little easier!

enter Lance on stage left... wonderful follow up to what Cynthia did the second Mick stepped out that door. She was definitely going to be onto Coraline as soon as she could be.

Coraline should pay more attention to what Cynthia has to say. Cynthia is no fan of Mick but she's smart enough to know he's dangerous, Coraline still thinks of him as her baby fledgling in some ways.

I can honestly see this conversation taking place. Cynthia has total loyalty to Coraline and no love lost on Mick, so of course she'd give Coraline the heads-up. Harumph.

I apparently missed this the first time around. That Cynthia called Coraline as soon as Mick left her hotel room is totally believable. As is this conversation. Good job!
