Summary: At the end of Fleur de Lis, Beth stabbed Coraline. This is what happened next.

A/N: Written for Champagne Challenge #135, Two Hundred Fifty Spoken Words. This challenge is addictive, lol!

Stay With Me

“Coraline! Can you hear me? Come on, Coraline…”

“Is she…”

“She’s still alive. But we have to get her to a hospital.”

“Mick, I…I’m so sorry. I was just so angry, and I really thought-”

“Now isn’t the time for this, Beth, okay? Not now.”

“Okay. What can I do?”

“The stake is sealing the wound for the most part, but we need to stabilize it before we can move her. There should be some towels in the closet over there. Get them, and cut them into strips.”

“Do you have a knife or a scissors or something I can use?”

“In the kitchen.”

“Um…towels. I don’t see… Wait. There they are. Just let me… There. Are the strips the right size?”

“They’re fine. Coraline! Hey, easy, Coraline. Easy."

“…M-Mick?”

“Yeah. Just hang on. Beth, my keys are on the counter. Get my car from the parking garage, and bring it around, as close to the door as you can. Wait there for us.”

“Aright. Is there anything else…?”

“No. Just go, Beth. Hurry. Coraline, you hear that? We’re gonna get you some help. The doctors will take care of you, okay?”

“Beth…Beth stabbed me.”

“Yeah, she did.”

“F-Funny. Didn’t…see that…coming.”

“We’ll be at the hospital soon.”

“…Mick?”

“What?”

“It hurts so bad, and I’m…I’m cold.”

“It’s just shock setting in, Coraline. That’s…that’s all it is.”

“You’ll stay with me, won’t you? I d-don’t want you to leave.”

“I…I’m not going anywhere for now, alright?”

“Promise?”

“Yeah. Yeah, I promise.”

Ohhhh! This is great. I wondered about that scene for a long time. Beth was so apologetic at the hospital later, but also kind of hurt that he cared so much for Coraline. Wonderful!

This is beautifully done. It feels like part of the show.

I sympathize with Beth here. This hit her in so many vulnerable areas--the woman who stole her childhood, and how was poised to steal the man she loved, who had hurt Mick so badly in the past...

There was no way she could have known that Coraline was not a vampire at present. All she had been told indicated that it was a one way street, but it must have been painful there and later at the hospital when Mick said, 'she was my wife.'

Oh Mick caught between these two women, one you loved and one you love. Trying to focus his mind in medic mode until he can get Coraline to the hospital.

Question is does he get snippy with Beth because he's a little off with himself for kissing Coraline in the shower, I suppose it's possible

Poor Coraline she really didn't think Beth had that in her. Beth is also horrified in the sense that she attacked another human not defending herself or someone else in self-defense

interesting take on it. for me, the stabbing scene was really off putting for a whole bunch of reasons - the look of savagery on Beth's face, Mick pushing her away the way he did -- it was not a happy section of the mooniverse. here we see Medic Mick back in action all business, he cares, but it seems clear here, not in the romantic way. Perhaps its just the shock of what happened.

This really captures the feeling of that moment just after Beth staked Coraline. You can hear the urgency in Mick's voice and he immediately goes into medic mode using whatever he has available. You can also hear Coraline's shock and fear. Well done.

This is such an interesting look at Coraline and Mick

Mick showed he still had mixed feelings about Coraline in that scene and this story just adds to that feeling.
