Beth, Isabelle, Nicole and Zoe decide to take a road trip. Just girls…..



“So you four are just going drive off with no particular destination?” Josef asked in surprise.
“That is the plan my darling” Isabelle said with a smile as she continued to pack.
“But you’re coming back?” Josef asked anxiously. Isabelle turned to look at him. He was always the most attractive when he was nervous. He had an almost little boy air about him that Isabelle simply could not resist.
“When have I not come back to you?” She said kissing his lips light.
Josef continued to watch her pack her bag. He knew that she was still upset over the Simone visit. But he had no control over that! Well maybe he found it a little amusing to see two women vying for his attentions..but that was it.

Mick kissed Beth before she left.
“Be careful. And don’t talk to strangers. And stay together” Mick was saying.
“I will honey. But you do realize that we are all vampires’ right?” Beth laughed.
“I know” he said running his hand through his hair. “Just come back” He said finally.
“You know I will” She teased and walked out the door.


“So where are you all going?” Gabriel asked.
“The whole idea of the trip is to just drive. You know. A kind of “On The Road” type thing” Zoe explained.
“That sounds pretty cool” Gabriel said with a smile thinking that he and Brian should do something like that sometime. “Well be careful” Gabriel said giving her a hug.



“You’re sure your okay with this?” Nicole asked one last time
Yes. Nic, you need a break. I can take care of Abigail.” Brian said as he held their daughter. Nicole kissed Abigail on the cheek.
“I’ll miss you” She whispered.
“Have fun.” Brian said kissing his wife deeply.
“Okay. I’ll call you from the road!” She said walking out the door.
Brian looked at his daughter who was looking up at him with wondering eyes.
“Looks like it’s just the two of us Abby.” He said to her with a smile.

The Range Rover that Isabelle had rented was outfitted with everything they would need for a long road trip. They all piled into the large sleek vehicle and smiled as they drove out of Los Angeles.

“You will be in charge of music Zoe.” Isabelle said. “I know nothing about what’s current.”
“Lucky for you I do” Zoe said with a bright grin and popped in Colbie Caillat CD.

That will be fun. I think the boys should get together too. They can stay at Brian's so he can look after the kid too.

Mick becoming bored already called Josef who also was becoming bored.
“Want some company?” Mick asked.
“What? You think that I can’t handle one night all by myself?” Josef asked.
“See you in 15 minutes” Mick said and hung up the phone.

Gabriel decided he would go see Brian. He knocked on the door and when Brian answered he looked like he had been attacked.
“Jeez Brian! What happened to you?” Gabriel asked.
“I don’t know how Nic does it Gabe. I can’t control her.” He said slowly shaking his head.
“Well let’s get you back in the house. You’re covered in blood. Your neighbors are going to call the cops” Gabriel said with a smile, pushing him back in the house.


“So what direction are we headed?” Nicole asked.
Isabelle looked quickly over a shoulder.
“Well there is nothing but sun going south, so I thought we would travel north”. She said.
“Awesome!” Zoe exclaimed. “We should stop in Seattle”

“So what do you want to do?” Mick asked as he sipped his bourbon.
“Who cares” Josef said with shrug.
“You know, I don’t get you man. Any other time you would be thinking of a dozens ways to get into trouble.”
“I think Isabelle’s mad at me” Josef said.
“What did you do?” Mick asked.
“I think it’s a question of what I didn’t do.” He said.
“Is it just me or are all women a little crazy?” Mick said with a smile.


The girls pulled into downtown Portland, Oregon the next evening. They checked into a hotel and changed for the evening.

Zoe was decked out in fun bohemian dress with bold tribal jewelry.
Nicole was in a daring red halter neck dress. Beth was in a little black dress du jour. And Isabelle stepped out in a sleek tuxedo minus the shirt and sky high heels.
“Let’s see what this city offers” Isabelle said.

“Why is she still crying?” Brian screamed.
“Is she hungry?” Gabriel asked
“No. I just fed her!”
“Okay. Bri. Calm down. What does Nicole do when she’s fussy?”
“She is never like this when Nicole is here.”
“What are you doing?” Gabriel asked as Brian walked over to pick up his cell phone.
“I’m calling someone to help” he said. “Hello? Helen. It’s Brian. I need your help” He said sadly.

The ladies walked into the swank dance club and every male head turned in their direction.
“What’s the name of this place?” Beth asked.
“Dirty” Zoe giggled.
“You’re kidding?” Beth said rolling her eyes.
“Couldn’t make that up if I tried!” Zoe laughed

The infectious music played loudly, and they all went out to the dance floor with a swarm of men each trying to make his way to floor to dance with them.

Helen walked up to Brian’s house and knocked on the door.
“Hi Helen” Brian said.
“Where is she?” Helen said handing him her purse and walking inside. The house was a wreck! Furniture was overturned and many things were smashed. Gabriel sat in a nearby chair shaking his head. Helen found little Abigail and immediately calmed her down. “You two should clean up this mess and I will put her to bed” She said with a smile.
Brian and Gabriel both stared at one another.
“How did she do that?” Brian muttered to himself.

“So are you a model?” A handsome man asked Isabelle.
“No I am not”
“You could be. You’re beautiful” He said with a wide grin. Isabelle turned to face him.
“What I am is not interested” She said and turned away. The handsome man not used to being dismissed by women was stunned by her words but eventually walked away.
“Isabelle, that man was gorgeous!” Nicole said in disbelief.
Isabelle simply shrugged her shoulders.

Every man in the club tried his best to pick the gorgeous ladies who had wandered into their town but none of them had any luck.

“I can’t believe it’s a Friday night and we're watching Vampire Diaries re runs!” Mick said in disgust.
“Come on! Damon’s pretty cool” Josef said with a smirk.

The girls arrived in Seattle, Washington two days later enjoying taking the scenic route to view the Oregon Coast.
“Ok, what do we do first?” Beth said hopping out of the car.
“Well, there is the Space Needle, Science fiction Museum….and The Seattle Museum of Mystery? I wonder what that is.” She asked re folding the guide and placing it back in her bag.
“That’s a real place?” Nicole asked.
“According to the “Things to See in Seattle Travel Guide”
“Okay, let’s go there.” Isabelle said.
Mick walked through the apartment not knowing what to do. Before he got married, he had enjoyed his freedom. Loved spending time with just his thoughts. Now without Beth’s energy and presence the place….it just seemed empty and hollow.

Josef was in a foul mood and all the employees of Kostan Industries knew it. Even his secretary Bridget was dreading even going into his office to deliver something.

Gabriel and Brian were exhausted. The house which they were able to clean was again a wreck. Helen did wonders but she couldn’t be here the whole time. When Brian heard his daughter awake from her nap with piercing scream, he slowly stood up and wondered how Nicole did this everyday.


After taking a tour of the Museum of Mystery the girls headed to Chinatown.
“Well, I don’t know if Bigfoot is really all that mysterious” Nicole said with laugh.
“I know!” Zoe said laughing out loud. “Everyone knows that’s a just a myth”
“Actually it’s very true” Isabelle said.
“You’re serious?” Beth said staring at her.
“Yes. And they do favor the Pacific Northwest. Why I do not know”
“Oh my God!” Zoe said thinking she needed to do some research when she got back home.
Isabelle looked at her phone. Josef had sent her over 20 text messages. She smiled to herself and turned the phone back off.

The girls enjoyed themselves all the way through the Cascade Mountains, but knew that it was time for them to head back.
“I don’t know about you, but this trip was just what I needed to re-charge” Beth said leaning back with a smile.
“I wonder how the guys are doing.” Zoe wondered out loud.
“I called Brian and he said everything was great. He said Gabe was staying with him to help with Abigail.” Nicole said
“They’re probably just watching sports all night” Zoe said.

Beth walked into the apartment and Mick almost tackled her.
“Babe! You’re back!” He yelled and wrapping his arms around her.
“I told you I would” Beth said with smile. “Is something wrong?” She asked looking at him and becoming worried.
“Nothing other than missing you like crazy” He said burying his face in her hair.

“Gabe, I’m home!” Zoe called out setting her bags down. Gabriel shuffled out his office. Heavy bags under his eyes. He walked over to her and held her face in his hands.
“Honey. I NEVER WANT TO HAVE CHILDREN” He said “Ever” Zoe threw her head back and laughed out loud.
“That won’t be a problem honey!” She said and kissed him deeply.

Nicole walked into the house and stopped short in shock. They looked like they had been robbed.
“Brian! Brian!” She called out going from room to room. Brian came running down the stairs.
“Shh! I just got her to take a nap.” He whispered. And suddenly as it on cue Abigail began to wail. Brian closed his eyes and held his head down.
Nicole walked over to him and kissed his lips.
“I’ll get her. You go rest” She said softly.
And of course as soon as Abigail saw her mother she immediately stopped crying.

Josef was livid. He left the office in a huff shouting at everyone who crossed his path. He was about to get in his car when he saw the taxi pull into the garage. Isabelle stepped out of the taxi her long legs encased in tight denim.
“Hello my darling” She said with a smile. Josef just stared at her like he was seeing her for the first time. He walked towards her.
“Isabelle. I love you” He said looking her in the eye. “I love you.” He repeated as if he were not aware of the fact until now.
“I love you Josef” Isabelle said. Josef wrapped his arms round her and kissed her passionately.


The girls went out for drinks.
“I don’t know what’s going on but I’m not going to complain. Brian has changed completely. I was doing everything around the house, now he is coming home right after work and helping with baby. It’s all very weird” Nicole said shaking her head.

“I know! Gabriel is doing the same thing. What the heck did they do while we were gone?” Zoe exclaimed.

Isabelle took a small sip of her wine.
“Perhaps they saw what their lives would be like without us” She said in her quiet voice.
“Well, I think we should do this more often” Beth said holding up her glass
“We definitely will” Isabelle said with a secret smile

This was cute...and educational for the guys--both the ones they love and left back in L.A. and the ones they met along the way.

This road trip definitely did everyone some good, but it was a hard lesson for the boys. Love it!
