I always assumed Josef was injured in the explosion. At the very least his clothes had to have been destroyed. It seems more likely to me that he would have tried to make it a few blocks to Mick's place rather than draw attention to himself in a parking facility trying to get to his car and then drive home.

Also, if he had gotten some of his own clothes, why would he be sitting around Mick's office in a bathrobe when Mick and Beth came in? (not complaining, but still... ;) )

I like the idea of Mick going to grab a few of Josef's things -- ostensibly as evidence for his investigation. :chin:

I agree, Lilly... there's no way Josef would go home right after the accident. He probably walked to Mick's place after the explosion. So... either Mick picked up some clothes for him during the day (after all, we don't see much of what they did that day), or Josef left Mick's and picked up some clothes on the way to Kostan Industries. I like the Mick theory better. He could either have gone to Josef's home to get them, or else gone out and bought him some clothes.

OK, one more thing just occurred to me. Why wasn't Josef's hair burned off in the explosion? (Not that I'm complaining, mind you...)

Well, he obviously healed. I'm willing to believe that the hair regrowth was part of that healing process. (Although, it's rather curious that it grew back perfectly styled and cut. :snicker: :happysigh: )

Also, on the subject of going home, at this point Josef didn't know who was trying to kill him or how many people were involved. His home was likely to be as vulnerable a place for him as his office was. He needed to get to the one person he trusted as quickly as he could.

Maybe hair heals like everything else does.
I wonder if Josef is the same kind of super-vampire as Lance. Not being burned at all.
Mick must have been really tired and frustrated that day/night/whatever, so it makes sense he went to bed. The robe was probably still lying around from when Josef had it, he never tidies up after all. And Mick is really shy when he has guests.
As of the clothes, I thought it would be Mick's shirt that Josef wears through their conversation, it seemed a bit wide for Josef, not really fitting like everything else he wears. He shouldn't risk his house keeper to see him, in case that was the leak that ratted him out. But he seemed to trust his freshies, so why not his other employees. It seems he trusted Tom too, a bit too much. So, it makes sense that he would drive home to get some clothes. After all, otherwise Mick wouldn't have been able to be there fast enough to get the assassin.
I liked the tension between Mick and Josef in these scenes.

Yeah, well, hair healing doesn't work for me that well, but hey--Josef gets what Josef needs, and he obviously needed good hair in a personal crisis. And don't forget--Lance was burned, but he healed in front of Mick's eyes. So if super-healing (even from fire) is something old vamps can do, it makes sense to me that Josef could do it too. But it doesn't mean he wasn't horrifically injured by the blast. :comfort:

I absolutely agree about Josef not knowing who was after him--he wouldn't dare go home. Mick's was the logical place for him to go, for many reasons, the two main ones being close proximity and the level of trust between Mick and Josef.

If Josef was a super healer, he never told Mick that, when Mick bitched about Lance having "superior genes."

Hmmm... maybe the FRESHIES brought him his clothes...

I really did too, francis... the tension between them was cool, believable, and made sense... Mick doesn't like to share his space and Josef doesn't like to play by Daddy's rules...

I wonder now what would happen in case the two of them would have to be roommates for longer. Like in "Odd Couple". That would make a great sitcom, huh?
Do you think Mick will be more forthcoming once Beth moves in? Or will they need to find a common digs that is neutral ground?

Okay, peeps, I know it's been a long time but I have a second chance (with the re-running of the epis on the CW) to get this going. You with me? LOL

Tom is in the control room, speaking to someone and running the tape of Josef coming to his office. Apparently, Tom called this person, thinking there would be something in it for him.
Image

Well, lo and behold, it's Martan!
Image

And yes, there is something in it for Tom. A bullet. Bye bye Tommy Boy.
Image

Josef's now in his office. He quickly looks over the disaster,
Image

and then bends to access a secret safe behind some floor molding.
Image

Out comes a long metal box. Josef pulls out some cash and a red cloth bag underneath.
Image

He slides the contents into his palm. A gold chain with a locket.
Image

He looks very intent, emotional, as he looks at the necklace in his hand. It obviously means a lot to him.
Image

Martan comes up behind him with a gun.
Image

Josef doesn't seem surprised. Or maybe he's too numb? He looks back at the killer.
Image

And in steps Mick, just before the Martan can get off a shot.
Image

The assassin goes down. Mick turns to Josef with a lecture. Why do I get the feeling he's wasting his breath?
Image

Before he can say much, Martan is back up. Fighting ensues.
Image
Image

Josef stands up and watches.
Image

Mick tries to question the assailant, wants to know who he's working for.
Image

Martan doesn't answer. He pulls a knife from his boot and gets the drop on Mick. Really? Really!
The knife sinks into Mick's thigh.
Image

And now, finally, Mick's fed up. He vamps out, pulls out the knife.
Image

He punches and kicks 'Born to Kill' out onto what must have once been a patio as Josef continues to watch.
Image
Image

Mick hangs the guy backwards over the railing, trying to find out who hired him.
Image

He gets the name....John Whitley. A real estate guy in NY ('cause there's only a few of those *rolls eyes*)
Image

Mick pulls Martan up and slams his head against a steel bar to knock him out. Now Mick moves in to question Josef. Does he recognize the name Whitley?
Image

Josef, um, doesn't think so. Mick's not quite believing it. But Martan groans, getting Mick's attention. He wants Josef to help him lift the guy but when he turns back, Josef's done a vanishing act.

And thus ensues one of my favorite vamp Mick moments EVER. :cloud9:

I also have to wonder if Josef's slow to react because he's simply stunned that ANYONE would draw a gun on him. If ol' Tom hadn't taken a bullet from Martan, I'm betting the tar pits would have had a new resident. :teeth:

Oh yeah, P-gal. I was almost sorry that Josef was denied a chance to rip his throat out. I have to say, Mick looks delectable all mussed up and sweaty in this. Love it. :snicker:

Looked this thread up after reading Alle's gorgeous summary of the episode. You've really made me think about this episode more deeply than I ever have, Alle.

I think it was red that said it in another thread that she thought ML hit its stride in episodes 7-12 and I couldn't agree more. With the exception of 12:04, each of those episodes dealt with the various love triangles Mick-Beth-Coraline or Mick-Josh-Beth and the previously unknown relationship Josef had with Sarah....we got to feel each of the characters react to winning or losing the battle of love. And for me, ML was / is a love story.

One of the things I came to appreciate about this episode was Jordan Belfi's development of Josh....he's in this episode all of a few moments, but he now fully realizes that he's losing / lost Beth....and he just walks away......so incredibly sad and when you counter what he does in the next episode LLF, he thinks he's got Beth back and he couldn't be happier. How fleeting his happiness will be.

Pgal's right... sexiest vamp Mick ever... :happysigh:
Between Alle's summary and GA's always fantastic, beautiful, insightful, snarky, and hilarious caps and captions... :cloud9:

And this is MickJosef on steroids here. A bit more forced togetherness, and under duress no less, than is perhaps comfy for either of em. But true BFF's, they make it work and put it all out there for one another.

Fabulous discussion with wonderful insights from a lot of our wonderful people!

Love the detail about Josef's hair healing. I understand that hair is produced from dead cells and grows at a set rate in us humans, but healing is so accelerated in vampires, it is entirely plausible that hair growth may be too. The most logical reason to me is that we are talking about Josef, here. If Josef hair heals, it will be perfectly coiffed, styled and moussed.

If Mick's hair was burned off, I am sure it would heal in a similar fashion, though in his case probably permed as well.

These guys have an accelerated fashion sense, too.

There are so many wonderful moments in this episode. There many wonderful details here that have spawned some wonderfu fanfic and I expect there will be a lot more.

Mick, with his pretty vamped eyes, holding that bloody knife, if one of my favorite shots of him. :melts:

It was at this point, with Josef acting so contrary that I really sat up and took notice of him. I remember thinking "WHAT is his deal?" I knew there was going to be something very important revealed about him.
