The direction isn't in the script, but that's not to say that it's not something the director asked for.
** Another note of interest -- it was supposed to be Carl Davis in that scene, but Brian White was unavailable.
Thank, Lilly. I was hoping you'd know.
I liked that they didn't use Carl. There ARE other cops in L.A. And that's the same guy from FdL, isn't it?

Yes. I think it was the same situation there with Brian being unavailable, although I don't have that script.

I actually really liked that cop... he seemed really... cop-like. And I liked the way he seemed to know, and like, Mick...
Tho I also liked the look on Mick's face when, after being warned by Mick about how dangerous Martan was, the guy says something about knowing how to do their job...
Mick does have to indulge the humans sometimes...

Another action-packed, yet bittersweet episode. Betting with the vials of blood - what a hoot. Which, BTW, in real life went for $100 each at the '08 Moonlight Convention auction.
Actually felt sympathy for Coraline - she became human for Mick - but, he didn't seem to get it, only wanted to focus on "the cure". Mick in all black was striking; plus we got the "kick-walk" (thank you Alex) at the last lonely shot of him walking along the city street.
On a side note, could it be any more irritating to be totally engrossed at the end of a lovely episode of Moonlight to be HARSHLY taken back to reality by an obnoxious Friends clip!?! Happens every week, so I'm prepared ... the mute button is worth its weight in gold.
Poor Josh, ep 11 is just around the corner ...

Oh yeah. I thought Mick was unnecessarily harsh on poor blowed up Josef. That was just mean. I also thought him worrying more about his apartment than Josef was pretty mean too.

What makes me think that Josef is a slob, and just has a very attentive staff that handles all that sort of thing...? Whereas Mick is a neat freak. So if Josef stayed there too long, it would be like The Odd Couple, and Mick would be standing there in the kitchen, shouting, "That's not a spoon, you fool, it's a ladle!"
(For those of you going

that's a well-known line from "The Odd Couple" TV show way back in the dark ages, with Jack Klugman and Tony Randall Mick would be Tony's character...)

Oh my god, Alle, Mick as Felix Unger? I can so totally see that. But then again, Josef has a very pernickety Felix-y feel about him too. They'd be arguing about who left the streaks on the stainless steel benchtops.

I thought he was harsh too. I also thought he was harsh with Beth in the beginning as well. But after thinking about it, I understood his point in both instances (or maybe I just let the vamp get away with murder.

) Josef is suppose to be DEAD. Mick is not wanting his place (and whoever is IN it) to wind up like Josef's office. Once is gets out that Josef is alive that is likely to happen.

Mick must have called the police. I think this says a lot. He chose not to do away with Martan but to let the authorities take care of it. They take the killer away.
Which means some explaining to the police. And a warning from Mick that this guy is really dangerous.
But it doesn’t look like the officer pays much attention to Mick’s warning. Bad move.
Apparently, Mick also called Beth to do some research on John Whitley. Of course he did.
She’s found a guy in NY that would fit the description. AND this guy had a daughter go missing in 1955. She wants to know if Josef would be after him. Mick says his friend’s justice is pretty much an ‘eye for an eye’. Which means ‘yes’.
Mick walks away, towards his car. Beth wants to know where he’s going (she doesn’t want to be left out - and who can blame her?) Surprise, surprise....Mick’s going to NY. To make sure Josef doesn’t do anything stupid.
Another surprise....Beth’s going with him. Why? Well to make sure MICK doesn’t do anything stupid.
Not too far away, a cop car is sitting off the side of a road, quiet, with just the lights flashing.
We see a bloody hand, a blood splattered dashboard.
Someone in combat boots (really? Is that necessary in L.A.?) leaves the car and running away.
The cops’ throats have been slit.
Martan has gotten away.

.... I have to say it.... I love Beth's porn hair in the 4th screencap. There, it's out of my system.
Yes, I got chills with this scene. you just know those cops are goners when Mick warns them to be careful.
