Thanks for all the brilliant info on what had been changed, re-edited, re-shot, Grace. :smooch: Remember those Elephant Project photos that were taken on the last day of shooting? We thought Alex was back in the tight scrubs - and now we know why. (Still don't like them though.)

I thought this version of this episode worked better than the pilot they eventually screened AND the original version of this episode. The big difference for me was that this episode felt like a proper one-hour drama - it had pace and flow. The stories fitted together well rather than feeling disjointed as some of the early episodes did.

The characters were good - Anton especially. Although I liked the young husband's character, I found the actor a little bland. I liked the interaction between Miranda and Yorn - I thought Miranda was great throughout actually and we got a chance to see Ryan doing something that made it believable he would have such a responsible job.

All in all, I enjoyed it and I'm pleased CBS made the effort to make this episode fit in with the rest (although it begs the question why they couldn't do the same with Ryan's First Day). It's still not a show that really excites me, but it was an enjoyable way to pass an hour. There was definitely the basis of a strong show here - I'm surprised and disappointed that in trying to improve it, to make it into a great show, they managed to lose the things that worked and introduce things that didn't.

Oh yeah!! The elephant pics! You're right... they musta been reshooting for this ep then. :slaphead:

He looked awfully bedraggled in the elephant pics... fortunately, he looked better than that in the show. Tho isn't it a hoot that his hair changed from scene to scene just a bit? And so did Miranda's. :snicker:

I always interpreted look in the elephant pictures as either him being really sad or having done a little too much "celebrating" if you get my drift (I know I would have been on the last day of shooting.). Perhaps both thrown in with not enough rest.

Totally forgot that they made Kate wear a wig after the pilot. They should never tried to tone her down.

I re-watched the episode this morning, armed with grace's keen observations....and I have to agree with CBS did a nice job in making something of this episode instead of just showing as it was or never showing it at all.

The other observation: the focus was still on Andy, but his screen time was more balanced with the screen time Miranda and Daniel got. Based on their interactions, you got the feeling that this really was a team...

If only CBS had gone for substance instead of techno-glitz, this might have worked.

Well it got more than Medium. And was in a dead heat with the Castle re-run, it looks to me.
Different time periods, but in direct comparison with the other dramas on the roster anyway.

So, not bad.

I am finally watching the recorded 3R from Saturday nite. I am sorry to say that I feel like I am forcing myself to sit still and watch it, but I am only about halfway through, so, I am hoping that it gets better.

I must be in the minority, b/c the glitz of prior eps at least held my attention enough.

It is interesting to see how obvious the edits are! When they are in the techno-computer-glitzy room, both Andy's and Miranda's hair is much different---in a good way.

I do like the look of the tighter scrubs---I don't know how realistic they are, but they look fantastic on Alex.

I certainly hope that the actress who plays Miranda gets another acting job stat. She is one of the best things about this show, love her.

Ok! As the person who snarkily said this a few pages back on this thread, I felt I had to humble myself and report on the latest news (which I found at AOLR).

Carol Barbee is to receive one of Donate Life Hollywood's Inspire Awards and the prestigious Crystal Heart Award presented jointly by the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations and the Coalition on Donation. This is part of the June 11-12 Film Festival, etc.

Which made me wonder what we were voting for Alex for. That's part of the same event but it's calle Donate Life Hollywood's Person of the Year Award.

A whole lot more information can be found in the news release at http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site ... ewsLang=en

It does include that more than 4000 "people" voted Person of the Year. (Here's to all you cookie cleaners out there!)

There is an episode clip/preview for this Saturday's episode, A Roll of the Dice, up on CBS's website:

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/three_rive ... Zvrq_tq0xK

No idea what the clip is, because I can't actually watch it. I'm off to see if I can find an un-country-protected version anywhere.

It seems to be the same clip as they showed after the show last week, the scenes from next week's ep. Could you see that when you watched the ep last week, Red?

And this is the same clip they initially showed after ep 108, MONTHS ago, and then of course never aired.

I've heard through the grapevine that this week's ep will appeal to me a lot more than last week's. Let's just say that I need to thank my mama once again for naming me Lisa---I will be reaping the rewards on Saturday!!
