Oh Alle, I'm so happy for you - you get to go be a fangirl and giggle some more!!!

Please let Mick's daddy know how much we enjoyed his original version of Mick. I know it's what he set out to do, but he really did succeed at writing a noir novel. From the voice to the sparse writing style to the seedy environment, I felt transported back in time - even with the modern setting. I truly enjoyed this Mick, even though he's more jaded and not as romantic as ML Mick.

Oh - and please relay a request... MUST have more Brasher - "all bone and menace" - flashbacks! (Perhaps Coraline's?) That was my favorite part of the book (Mick's conversation with Brasher). At first I thought he was going to be the Josef character, but then we get his backstory! What a great backstory (and great advice he gave Mick)! And more Coraline - I find her character to be even more interesting in the book. Must know if she can "get it back together" years from now, so she can come back and torture Mick some more - or if he had the b*lls to scatter her ashes (I personally, don't think he'll be able to do it, when push comes to shove).

Oooooh - great comments, HotMicks - I will definitely pass them on to Trevor, should I get the chance. I'm hoping there will be plenty of opportunity for conversation, but that depends on how busy the book signing is, I suppose.

Not sure who else in on Facebook, but I commented that a few people from this board were coming. Have a great time. Hope it isn't as hot there as it is here. I have stayed in the house almost all day since it is in the high 90s outside.

Nope, we're having our normal June gloom here... nice and cool. Besides, it'll be indoors.

hahahahahaha! You're all focused on the Trevor stuff... guess what stuck out to me (a Californian)... public parking ACROSS THE STREET!!!!

And Alle, nice and cool? That's not what I moved to CA for... I HATE June gloom. It's the only time of the year I wish I was somewhere else. I'll never forget the first time I found out about that. A co-worker in San Diego told me it's called June gloom and I was like, "You mean this happens every year?" She's also the one who told me that "Cyn" on all the road signs did NOT stand for "sin" but rather "canyon." I could NOT figure that one out ... I went in one morning and said "What is sin on all the road signs?" and they looked at me like I was a martian. It wasn't until I spelled what I saw on the signs (c-y-n) that they finally connected the dots... and we all had a really good laugh. In fact, I should call her one of these days and thank her for her excellent education in "California speak."

Well, there was a great turnout, and the evening was lots of fun. Trevor started out giving a bit of an overview about how he came to write the book, and how it turned into a screenplay for a movie, and then CBS optioning it for the show:









He answered a few questions, including, are you working on the next novel? (No, but he's pretty much finished with the negotiations on it, which are due to be finalized very soon), and what are you doing other than writing? (He just finished a screenplay involving a werewolf story!!)

He's currently planning two more Mick Angel books... the second will be kind of a stand-alone dealing with the aftermath of what happened at the end of the AoV book, and the third will deal with the relationship of Mick and Elizabeth as it unfolds in the 60's. I asked him if he had a concept of what happened between Mick and Elizabeth (Beth), explaining why she wasn't in his life in the present day of AoV... he said that if there was a fourth novel, he'd probably do some sort of wrap-up of the Elizabeth story set in the present day. But that isn't part of the current negotiations, so it depends on how the current books do.

After the introductory talk, we moved to the back of the store, where Trevor signed books and chatted with fans.

Thanks for the report and pictures. From the description of future books being planned I imagine we won't see the Mick and Beth we know and love from Moonlight? Does anyone know if that was part of the deal for Trevor being allowed to publish the books or is the way he always envisioned Mick?

I realize this is somewhat off topic but not sure where else to put it, if one of our fanfic writers simply changed names and some other key information, could they be allowed to publish something that was a Moonlight type story but with changes to the names of all the characters? Just curious.

MLS, I'm going on the assumption you didn't read AoV - the book is vastly different than what we ended up seeing on television. Any relationship Mick Angel would have with Beth would be set in the past, since that particular bit was set in the past.

As for the second question...I'm pretty sure there's copyright infringement issues involved. And if you changed things enough to NOT be accused of plagiarism, it really wouldn't be a Moonlight story anymore.

To answer your question, MLS (at least partly), Trevor has said more than once that Mick Angel is not Mick St. John. And we know for a fact that the scenario of the little girl Elizabeth who rescued Mick A. from Coraline in the book cannot turn into the same type of relationship as Mick S. and Beth, because we already know that Mick is alone and not in a very happy place at the time of AoV.

I asked him if he has it in his mind how he will handle the relationship of Mick and Beth in the books... and he says he does know what he has planned for them, although the full story might not play out till a 4th book (which has not been negotiated - he is just finishing negotiations for books 2 and 3 now... he said "within the month").
