Re: Alex appearing on Craig Ferguson Sept 7th
The clip from 3R that they showed on Ferguson was expanded a bit from what we've seen already....seeing the expanded part made it even more significant for Alex. He (Dr. Andy) is talking about how something bad had happened to him, but that he'd been given a second chance and that a second chance is a powerful thing, that the ball player should take it.
The expanded part was the bit about something bad happening to him (Dr. Andy) which I think will provide the 3R writers something to work with. But the other thing that struck me is that while it's Dr. Andy talking, the very same thing could be said by Alex of his own life (the unexpected cancellation of Moonlight and the second chance of 3R.)

Fleur - don't feel bad - I set everything up to record, then turned the cable box off, all I got was a lot of black screen![]()

All I can say was that was different - two streams of consciousness trying to out do each other.
Amazing that that was the first I'd heard of the botulism, but that would explain a lot (the appearance, the dropping out of sight for a while).
Really surprised that with Whiteout just days away, not a mention of it, nor of BUP, with only a nod toward 3R.
I guess when you go on Ferguson, you really don't know what to expect.
And like Alex, I wonder what was in Craig's mug.
OMG dsr--you couldn't have put it better when you phrased it as "2 different streams of consciousness!!!" They were both bouncing all over the place. I am so glad that I am not the only one that thought it was very strange. Having said that, Alex does make a great talk show guest: completely at ease, humorous, and GORGEOUS. I have a strong feeling that we will be seeing him on many more higher profile talk shows now that his star is rising.
And would it be wrong of me to mention how good his thighs looked in those jeans? I never understood the comments before about his thighs.
I do now.

Many, many thanks, Red for both links.
Again, I've been waiting all day to view these.
I know he didn't really discuss much about anything but I thought the interview was excellent. It shows his charm and personality off really well and isn't that what you come to expect when your being interviewed by Craig Ferguson? I would expect that they would have known he wouldn't discuss much.
He looked absolutely gorgeous too.

Lilly, actually you are right on. It is standard "Late night talk show 101" to come prepared with at least one funny or interesting story. I remember reading a number of articles after Joaquin Phoenix made such an a** of himself on the David Letterman show. Basically the advice was, it's not rocket science! Act like you are happy to be there and come with an interesting story or two.Lilly wrote:I'm thinking that it's almost a rule of thumb that guests are expected to share some sort of anecdote -- amusing, embarassing, life-threateningdarkstarrising wrote: I also found it telling that Alex brought up the botulism he suffered....other than explaining his thin appearance, was there anything else he was trying to say?-- on these late night shows.
The other possibility is that it was a way for him to let folks know he had been ill without sounding too self-indulgent on his blog. A lot of people have commented (at least on MySpace) that he was looking too thin. This was a way to set their minds at ease, perhaps.
Personally, I like Craig's goofy style, and obviously Alex had done his homework and was not only well prepared with interesting things to share, but also keyed into Craig's odd style of interviewing by opening his segment with showing off his boots as a follow up to the guest he followed. Quick on his feet and gorgeous as ever!!

Albra, I'm glad my little third-hand synopsis was helpful!
Fleur, you are so right to respect the thighs. My only complaint is that it took you so long to come into the fold. Have you not SEEN those coming-down-the-stairs caps from Fleur de Lis?!?!
I don't believe that Alex was either lying or joking about getting botulism right after Moonlight was canceled. It seems pretty obvious to me that he was talking about the trip he took with Holly right after he got the awful news. Botulism doesn't cause "Montezuma's Revenge." From http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/botuli ... N=symptoms here are the symptoms of botulism (edited to remove references to infant and wound-borne botulism):
Signs and symptoms of food-borne botulism typically begin between 12 and 36 hours after the toxin gets into your body.
Food-borne and wound botulism
Signs and symptoms of food-borne and wound botulism include:
* Difficulty swallowing or speaking
* Facial weakness
* Double vision
* Trouble breathing
* Nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps
* Paralysis

Re: Alex appearing on Craig Ferguson Sept 7th
I am embarrassed as I totally forgot about his appearance until I saw this thread this afternoon. Thank you ever so much Red for posting the link so i could see it.
And I have to agree it was quite disjointed of an interview. My other thought was that sometimes the look on Alex's face when Craig would say something was almost an annoyed face....anyone else notice?

It was my pleasure, Emma-lee.
I think it was mock annoyance on Alex's part - although his riff on Craig's taxes did fall a little flat...

I finally got a chance to watch the interview, and I'd say Alex frequently looks as though he's a touch annoyed not to be getting a word in edgewise. Can't say as I blame him. Ferguson has a real tendency to not let him so much as finish a sentence, let alone an anecdote.

Yeah... he's a bit frantic... can't say I'm normally a fan... but he IS the only talk show host who keeps having Alex on... so that raises him in my estimation... to be honest.

I don't think it's annoyance, it's just Alex doing his part to be the straight man to Craig's funny guy imho. Several times Alex laughed like he couldn't keep up the straight faced act anymore

Re: Alex appearing on Craig Ferguson Sept 7th
I thought it was mock annoyance a couple times. I think they planned to be crazy and I'm not sure it turned out all that well in terms of funny/crazy. It was more ADD/crazy. But it was fun. We got to hear a few things about Alex, like he rides up to Lake Arrowhead the same day he is scheduled to appear on a TV show. So it's about a 3 hour ride at least, so, yeah another full day for Alex. He must have got up early that mornning (all disshelved with his hair in his face *sigh*) gone up there, came back and got ready for the show. And he pays a lot of taxes = makes a lot of money. We now know where he shops online. He also found out he'll eat any meat offered to him in the middle of the jungle.

Fleur, the thighs, really? Wow, I'm gonna have to say you're WAAAY behind the
on that one. But what a time to catch on - when he stretched his leg out and rested it on the other knee...
Helloeeze, ADD/crazy is right. While it was fun to watch Alex deal with Craig's craziness, it was almost exhausting.
And sorry, but I just HAVE to pull a Joe Wilson here and say to Alex regarding his comment to Craig that he has never touched a koala, "YOU LIE! (and I have the proof)":
