Re: Three Rivers - news, links, discussion - part 9 **SPOILERS**
Haven't read through all the pages in this new thread (bc I am bad that way), but I wasn't as 'hooked into' this last ep as the one previous. For some reason, I was distracted more by all the bouncing back and forth----maybe it was just me? Or maybe I need to get over the fact that I just want to know more about Alex, Miranda et al.
I understand that it takes time to develop these characters, but I find myself so intrigued by them, that I want to know more about them---with all the other storylines that are in play, it is difficult for there to be any time left at all to really explore their backstories.
I hope that at some point, soon, they take a week off from the transplant story-laden plot and get into the details of these doctor's lives.
For some reason, I am enjoying discovering new tats on Miranda each week!! I think that the presence of her tats lends more info to her backstory. I find her incredibly cool as it is, and the fact that she has so many tats, adds to her appeal.
I can see why they are not showing Alex's tats--if his past is any indication: being from the rough side of town, being a reformed bad boy--if he's trying to forget/move past all that, he might not want to be showing his tats. However, he would be a prime candidate for hiding those tats, so, they should write that into the show!! Best of both worlds: he's trying to forget his past, be the fine, upstanding, wholesome doc; have a Cora moment when he gets home from work, and he's wiping off the make-up!

OMG... you are encouraging her, you know that right?

We don't know if Andy has tats... but yes, we'd all like to find out, in a non-verbal kinda way...

And Fleur, I think we'd all like to see more focus on the docs, but that does not seem to be Barbee's vision of the show... will she eventually listen to fans on this? Will the show be around long enough for her to plod thru her initial vision to this new, brighter place? Dunno.
I am surprised the brass at CBS, tho, hasn't explained to her that audiences are not gonna get involved, week in and week out, with a character who is a one-shot. It worked with Vincent on CM because it was a rarity, not the usual MO for the show. And even then, with all that attention on Vincent, the regulars STILL got a lot of camera time. So here's hoping Barbee gets a clue.

Oh lord--he was juggling people's cellphones!!! And he didn't drop 'em!! (I juggle, and I wouldn't dare do it with cellphones.) The man is brave in addition to everything else.

Reading your exchange, I now see that I was stereotyped in my thought. No, I don't think that criminials necessarily have tattoos nor do I think that everyone who has a tattoo is a criminal. And, of course, we don't know exactly why Andy almost went to prison. He did say that some of his friends did so it does sound more like a group/mob kind of activity. It was just my thought that Andy was a hellraiser, a bad boy, a larkin and it seems that tattoos can represent that attitude to the "wearer".redwinter101 wrote:I'm sure you're right, helloeeze - but we're not talking about prison tats or gang tats here. We're talking about Alex's tats and how they relate to Andy, i.e. that he hasn't been to prison but it would be more convincing to believe that were possible just because he has tattoos, if I'm understanding r1015bill correctly.helloeeze wrote:I would like to see statistics on it but I wouldn't be surprised if a higher ratio of those who have been in prison have tattoos compared to the regular population. I know tattoos are more in style in the general population in recent years but still....it would be interesting to see the stats on it, if such a thing were kept.redwinter101 wrote:I'm not sure what you mean, r1015bill - that tattoos are the sign of a criminal?r1015bill wrote:I totally missed the tattoos on Miranda. And if Andy really was that close to prison, why wouldn't he have had tattoos.

I suppose that might not be unlike Alex in real life but I wasn't trying to link Andy and Alex.
I do like Fleur de Lisa's idea that Andy himself might be covering the tattoos. That seems so Andy since he's trying to keep his past in the past. If that's the case, I look forward to her suggested Coraline-like scene.

Like you, I'm desperately hoping we find out (soon) why Andy nearly went to prison, and a LOT more about his past.

Personally, I think it would have been really interesting to have had Miranda be the one to have gone to jail. Her daddy issues are perfect for her acting out for attention.
