Just a little trivia:
Annalise Basso, the redheaded cute girl who played the little sister of the asthma patient in episode 8, also played Jessica's sister on True Blood. She's good. I didn't save the links, but just enter her name at YouTube or Google. She was the one guest actor that had close to no screen time and lines but I remembered her still. She's got presence.

Just got another one of those canned replies from CBS for the comment on Three Rivers - I've gotten 5 replies for 9 comments (not too bad).

I just wonder if the analogy between Kuol not getting a heart and 3R not getting a venue sailed over their heads or did someone perhaps appreciate it. I'll never know.

Wow... I only sent in two comments all year... bad bad fangirl... but I never got a reply! Cool for you!
And I would not hold your breath on anyone there "getting it." But we enjoyed it immensely here... :clapping: (And you inspired me to send my message, to which no one replied, but good on ya, dearest, cleverest Dark.)

If you read a lot of books you are considered well read. But if you watch a lot of TV, you're not considered well viewed. Lilly Tomlin

:curtesy:

I started sending in comments after the first episode, trying to praise them for what was good, and provides some suggestions on what wasn't working (like not providing backstories on the doctors). I was floored I got any responses at all. Alas, to no avail. :mdrama:

I am confused. What is TR's status? I have read "cancelled" and now I'm reading "on hiatus".

In my very pathetically lengthy experience of shows "on the bubble" - "hiatus" means a "retooling". In other words, heads are going to roll and the direction and vision of the series is up for grabs. Maybe kinda like sorta ML between ep12 and the (unclassic) rest. I recall this happened with Beauty and the Beast. It came back totally unrecognisable and a total betrayal of the mythology (maybe kinda like sorta ML). In this case, who knows, that might be a good thing!

If it is, indeed a "hiatus" with "retooling", it is hard for me to believe that they could make it anything other than better. On the other hand, I can still be totally gobsmacked by the crap that often takes its place.

lafluffy--the first story out in THR said "hiatus" but a later story reported "cancelled."

Thanks L7. I think that Alex indicated that TR was toast which further befuzzled me, so thanks so much for clarifying.

My dear friend Tom runs One Legacy which is the organ procurement agcy here in CA. His staff has been assisting Carol Barbee and the writers on 3 Rivers. Needless to say everyone is sadden by the demise of Three Rivers. Tom wrote an editorial and it was printed in the Times and Daily News so I thought I'd share. kays

Oh, Barb, that's a lovely article. I'm so sorry for your friend. It was a very good cause, and I'm glad that they have tangible evidence that it did some good. :hearts:

Wow, though I wasn't a fan of the show, I am amazed, saddened, and gladdened, all at once, by the outreach of this show. It has been debated the past few years on what could get people to donate viable, life-saving organs. This show seems to have helped in its way. Too bad it is gone.

Wow!! Amazing how quickly the message reached people. If only one life was saved because of the show, then 3R can be proud.

thanks for sharing

Thanks for sharing. I would say it would be great for Alex to see this article but unfortunately some of the comments regarding him are less than desirable and at least from his standpoint would be hard to read. I am pleased that the show helped save some lives. Nothing is greater than that.

I think Alex would be very proud that his show made such a difference. And the mean comments all seem to be the same old same old from the same old same old... so he probably can take that with a large grain of salt. And if he sees the article, he may never see the comments anyway. And ya know what? I think our Alex is also bigger than that... he has really wise priorities...

I have to say tho, I am AMAZED that the show could make such a difference so quickly. That really does say something about it.

The first time through, I read only the article. Based on your post, I read the comments and have to agree, many are hurtful. How sad that for an article highlighting the good the show did, many of the comments are nothing more than spiteful opinions about how using the show as a vehicle for one actor's career over others caused it to fail.

I may or may not resemble the remark about being an old lady, but I do resent it. At least, though, I have manners.

I have to admit, I was astonished at the mean-spiritedness of some of the comments. I do think this is a direct result of the way the show was marketed...it was pushed as "the Alex show" when it clearly was written to be an ensemble cast. And we all commented that they needed to make Dr. Andy less of a saint than he appeared at first...naturally, just as that was beginning to develop, poof! it's cancelled.

Is is unfair to blame Alex, and his talent, for the way TR played out in the ratings? Personally, I think it is unfair. There were a lot of factors here, just as there were with Moonlight. Not the same factors, perhaps, but nonetheless, the failure of a tv show is rarely squarely on the shoulders of one person.
